Hey gang, Amarië and I agreed to start a new OOC thread, since we may never know whether or not they will get our old one back. We all need a way to communicate back and forth, so let's use this one for now. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Gurth -

Hey, one other thing; in the ensuing melee that is about to occur in our side of the story, you can put a few more orcs in there than I stated in my last post if you'd like. Whichever. I'm sure whatever you come up with will be just swell. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> Also, if you want to wound Orowë that's fine, just as long as it's nothing too serious. Perhaps a stubbed toe or something <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0>

Ok I'll toss in a few more orcs for some added spice<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-devil.gif"border=0> I probably won't mention any specific number...I'll just stop after our blades have had a good drink, or pass it along to you before the battle's over<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Before this week is out I should have a post down!

I'm working on a post now...I should probably have it up tonight/this morning. If not sometime later today definately.

Ok, it looks like I'll be able to wrap it up before I get to bed. I'm going to leave us right after the battle. You'll be injured (where and to what degree I haven't decided yet<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-devil.gif"border=0>) and Erthalion will be out of breath<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0>

This should probably do it as far as 'action' posts in the Dungortheb bo. I think we'd best be on our way out of that hellish place, wouldn't ya say?<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Ouch! Ya hurt me, Gurth! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> Just a flesh wound, though. No biggee <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> Good post! Since the leader of that group of orcs mysteriously dissappeared I might say that he, and perhaps others, are tracking us as we make our exit, though we'll probably elude them in the end. Does that fit in with your plans? I'll post sometime next week. I have to post in my other thread first.

Am - Hasn't it been since last October since your last one? Although part of that time the thread was on hold anyway. No problem though. I'm sure you have a lot going on right now. If our characters were together I'd probably be nudging you a bit, <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> but they're not right now. Take your time! Do you always write your posts all in one sitting? Sometimes I find it helpful to do mine in spurts; a paragraph here and there over a few days or so, etc.

Ok, Gurth. I posted, but decided to do something a little different this time. Halmir's having a bit of trouble with his memory (poor thing) and recollections of what happened in Dungortheb, seeing as how he dared to drink from the streams of that valley. Obviously, Orowë and Erthalion are alive, if not exactly well <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> I think I'll let you come up with a daring exit from the valley for Orowë and Erthalion. Feel free to do whatever you want with that. I figure we will eventually track Halmir to Orwine's home, but am open to any suggestions!

Ah, I've finally made it to this ooc-thread ...

And I have written another post, which I hope to be able to post tomorrow (as it currently resides on my computer at home, and I have forgotten to copy it on disk to post it from here where I can use the internet for free). Anyway, it's on it's way. I still hope that asaris and Amarie (and Canamarth, when she has survived her business studies exam of doom) will post again at some point.

By the way, excellent writing, Gurth and Cel. It's a real pleasure to read your stuff <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Thanks, Khor and Gurth! Very kind <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> I look forward to reading your posts, too! I'm not real sure where Am and asaris are. I guess we can expect them when we see them <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif"border=0>

Hi, Celeb! Hey, our screen-names have the same prefix! That might cause some confusion! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0> Yeah, I saw your post on the other thread last night, but ran out of time. Sure, your character looks well-developed, so you are welcome to join, since you seem to know the Silmarillion well (some people don't, alas!). The only thing I would add is that we try and let the book be our guide and try to avoid too much super-hero, D&D type nonsense. I would recommed that you read up a little bit on the last page or two of the thread and then let us know how you would like to introduce your character. Here's an updated roll-call and the characters we write for:

Amarie - Tirno (Noldorin elf from - ? I forget)
Khorazir - Feaneldor (Sindarin elf from Doriath)
asaris - Curufë (House of Fëanor)
Gurtholfin - Erthalion (Edain of Hador's house)
Celebrimbor32 - Orowë (of the house of Fingolfin)
Celebrimbor32 - Eirien (captured elf-maiden of the house of Fëanor) <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-devil.gif"border=0>
Celebriel - TBA

Suilad, Celebrimbor, a mae govannen! Hannad le!

yeah, i just read the lst several posts, and they're really good! but how would i join in, since you guys seem to be in the middle of a RP? should I wait for the Nirnaeth? Here's my poem, hope you don't mind me posting it, but i thought it might be of some interest, becasuse it's about the Nirnaeth:

NIRNAETH ARNOEDIAD

The world was dark, no longer free
Of evil and what should not be.
Forces were gathered, hate was wrought,
And yet, still hope was vainly sought.
No harp now wrung, but trumpets sound.
Sadly, though, by oath they were bound
To overthrow the Enemy.

By honor bound they marched ahead.
Tall and fair, they strode with dread
Of evil things, of hosts unnumbered,
Of mighty foes still remembered.
Then sword unsheathed there glimmering,
And helms of gold there shimmering…
And then they were seen by the Foe.

Great was His fury, and his wrath;
He sent a force to break their path.
Buckler and corslet, axe and sword
Were issued forth by the Dark Lord.
The clash of swords from either side;
There many fell, there many died.
Then from the rear there came a call—
New forces came then through the wall
To help against the Enemy.

New hope has come, new banners flown,
And all their pow’r and might was shown.
Now so strong, theirs would be the day.
Vic’try was their, if not had they
Been betrayed. For from the rear came
A clamor of swords—the host’s bane.
But ere long the traitors were slain.

Revealed was the evil plot;
They did not seek what they had sought.
For promised them was wealth and pow’r
If they had slain the host that hour.
But wayward went their evil plan.

But emptied then from caverns deep,
They came to slaughter, and to reap,
And driving back they found the High King—
Surrounded him with evil things.
Valiantly he fought, but too strong
Were they; they wrapped ‘round him a thong
Of fire that lashed him to the ground.
His blood and mire they beat and pound
and left the remains for carrion.

Nirnaeth Arnoediad, Tears Unnumbered.
From then on the mem’ry slumbered,
For no song or tale can contain
The sorrow from that battle plain.
Now some great warriors are no more.
But now is lost from all the lore:
Warriors, lords, and mighty kings—
Of them now only harpers sing—
The last whose realms were great and free
In this far land beyond the Sea.
Now they go west, to Valinor,
Where life goes on forevermore;
And evil things do not dwell there.
Celebriel -

Hey, great poem! Is that yours? Sounds as if Professor T. wrote it himself! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> I also checked out the beginning of your story in the Scriptorium. I read chapter one and will read the rest this weekend sometime, as I am nearly out of time for tonight. Again, very well done, indeed! You should fit in well with our little group here <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Suilad, Celebrimbor, a mae govannen! Hannad le!

> You are obviously well-versed in your Sindarin, and therefore deffinately one up on me <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif"border=0>

Certainly no need for you to wait until we begin the actual process of the Nirnaeth Arnoediad, though, as we are still a little ways before that. You see, we've sort of got two (three, if you count my <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-devil.gif"border=0> posts) different storylines going on presently. Orowë and Erthalion, and Halmir, are making their way through Nan Dungortheb to the east right now, and the rest of the group are down at Nargothrond, doing their thing. As far as I know, we would all like to reunite sometime before/during/after the NA. So I guess you first need to decide where your character is dwelling, shortly after the Dagor Brogollach. I take it she is of the house of Fëanor, correct? Which of the seven son's does she serve? All of Fëanor's sons are mostly in the east and NE of Beleriand right now, so perhaps you would be from one of their realms? After you decide on that we should have a better idea as to how to get you involved in the action ASAP <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Well, if your character is more associated with Celegorm and Curufin, you could have accompanied them to Nargothrond, where my character (and those of Amarië and asaris and Canamarth) currently resides.

Ok, I'm back. Sorry I had to post twice....the bell rang before (I'm at school, but right now I've got a free class <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>). think i'll do two characters for this RPG: Celebriel and Dulin. Dulin has a history, but it's not as completed as of yet as Celebriel's is. But I'm working on that! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>
hmmm.....would it be alright if Celebriel and Dulin met up with Celegorm and Curufin, and travel with them, but only for the heck of it, and not serving them. quote: "..and I serve none but Iluvatar.." ~Dulin
in my story (about Dulin), when Celebriel and Dulin meet, Celebriel is not named Celebriel, but Tyelperiel (she did not speak Sindarin then), and when they first meet, Tyelperiel is commanding an Elven-host from Valinor (she's like their General), and her and Dulin cannot converse in this story, because the ELves of Valinor's speach had been apart from the ones left in Belerian too long, and they became different. Celebriel is a translation of Tyelperiel.
if it is alright with you guys, maybe Celebriel and Dulin can be with Celegorm and Curufin's troops, or whatever. when we figure this all out, I'll start writing some posts <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0><img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0><img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

Darnit, I meant to reply to this the other day but forgot since I've been so busy. Anyway, Celebriel, if you want to write for two characters that's fine. I sort of do the same thing myself with Orowë and Celedhros, though the former is my primary char. Incidently, they are both of Fingolfin's house and had to endure the crossing of Helcaraxë because of Fëanor and his sons, so neither one of them think too highly of those of his house, especially Celedhros since he lost both his wife and sister during the crossing of the Ice. That might create an interesting conflict if our characters ever meet <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> Now, is Dulin male or female? Male, right?

If you are going to be down in Nargothrond with Celegorm and Curufin perhaps you can have your characters meet Khorazir's char, Feaneldor. Then she would have someone to post with, since Am and asaris are MIA <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif"border=0>

I'll check out the second part of your story in the Scriptorium pretty soon <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

lol - Dulin's a maiden! hehe oh well. Her name means "Nightingale" in Sindarin.
When Feanor and Fingolfin split, Tyelperiel (Celebriel, as she was called then) stayed with Feanor, despite being greatly distressed over the Kinslaying.
I think it really would be great when our characters meet. I love conflicts! Oh well, they'll become friends over time (I hope) lol

Khorazir - can we maybe arrange our characters to meet? maybe when she is leaving the "hospital" place, Menegroth, or whichever city she is in....?

My char Faeneldor is currently in Nargothrond, whither he has come with the remains of Finrod's force from the battle-fields of the Bragollach. He has just left the healers' rooms, and is on his way to have a look at the splendours of Felagund's caves. So he could meet your char any time if she's there. If you have read my last post, you should get an idea of his attitude towards certain members of the House of Fëanor, but I'm sure he'd be inclined to overcome his prejudices if opportunity arose <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Yeah, I think we could all do with those. Anyway, sounds cool, Celebriel. In my last post I stated that Faeneldor has heard voices on the corridor, and is walking towards them. So perhaps the speakers are your chars already. A description of Faeneldor's looks can be found at the very beginning of the thread, and of his present attire in my last post.

hmmm....just a question. are you guys past the part of the Dagor Bragollach when Fingolfin dies? or are you in the two years after, when orcs are still roaming about? i've started writing a post, and it's coming along pretty good so far, but i need to know where in the Bragollach we are. It was the bragollach, wasn't it? <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>
'til later,
~Celebriel

Celeb - We are past Fingolfin's death. I wrote only a little bit about it a page or two ago in one of my posts. I would say we are about a couple years at most past the formal ending of the Bragollach. Off the top of my head I can't recall exactly how much time transpires between the DB and the NA. I don't have time to look it up right now. Do you remember how long it is? The NA should be coming up fairly soon, though.
