Ok, this RP shall be based in the Celtic Guild, but anyone may join. But I do suggest that you have some understanding of Celtic background, as this is Celtic based. I don't want any Ben-Hurs. If you have any questions, you may stop by the Celtic guild and we will be happy to answer any questions. Thanks

Tir-nan-Og, the Land of Eternal youth, is where gods rule and fay blooded reside. The basic story line is the will be a war between the Daoine Sidhe, the gods chosen, and the Slaugh, the rebels who want control.

Races
Daoine Sidhe(theena shee)-Elves, immortal, fair(white) skinned, highest of the fay people, beautiful, powerful, tall and slim but can be very strong, masters of magic. They keep their souls in a stone hung on a chain around their necks. If they die "fade" their soul and their sword are hung on the Tree of Memory in the center of Tir-nan-Og. The same with the Slaugh.
Slaugh(slooa)-High fays, similar to Daoine Sidhe, unfriendly to mortals, often kidnap them when out hunting, beautiful yet uncomely and deadly. Also called Drow.
Gael-A mortal, human, with fair skin, the Celts.
Moor-A mortal, human, with dark skin, were often slaves, some believe as the Celts, some don’t.
Phouka(pooka)-A fay people that can take the shape of various animals(tend to be black), and are considered dangerous, but if you learn their true names you can command them. Also can be called Fuathas
Murdhuacha(muroo-cha)- Mer-People, water dwellers who are human from the waist up with the tail of a fish, their singing is irresistible to mortals.
Tylwyth Teg(telooeth teig)-Half fays, often maintain many fay qualities, they cannot handle pure silver, where as iron hurts most fays.
The more "anti-social" fays, can be played, but wont be as easily written into the story:
Bodach-Brownies, fays who are short and dress in brown, the have brown shaggy hair, the complete unfinished chores at night. Any offer of reward drives them away, but the expect a bowl of milk or cream and a cake to be left out.
Dryads-Spirits who dwell in trees, oaks in particular, Druids contact them to gain inspiration.
Bain Sidhe(ban shee)-A spirit/fay who may appear before a death, their cries are said to drive mortals insane.
Cyhyraeth(kerherrighth)-A form of banshee that appears before multiple deaths.
Cwn Annwn(koon anoon)-the hunting dogs of the fays, extremely loyal to their masters, white with red tipped ears.
Each(Âak)-Horses bred to perfection whos’ speed is unmatched, are at ease in water, when running can cross small patches of water on top, and they form a bond with their masters, they look similar to an Arabian and Andalusian cross. usually owned by fays.

If you have any questions about a races not listed just ask me and I will let you know if it is acceptable.

Characters:
pg1
LadyEdana- Edana Ros, nicks: Brier, thorn, moonchild, DS--active
GoldenSiren- Caera, nicks:Sinann, Sathach, Blathnat, P--active
Blodeuedd- Blodeuedd daughter of Gwydion, DS--active
Vanaladiel- Arduina, DS--not active yet
Liadan- Ankou, S--active
pg2
Rowanberry- Rhiannon, DS--active
pg3
Nyx- Nyx, P--not active yet
Elfmaiden- Cahira, Nicks: Shea or Sevi, DS/G--active

The story has begun, but new characters may still join as long as they post their character bio here first. I hope everyone has fun.

Le Meas
Edana Ros

I'd like to be a Phouka but I'd like to know if that would be okay to use as a playable character. If not I can be another charater. I can post a bio of the character if you are okay with the idea.

Yes, you can be a Phouka, that would be fine. If you want to be a constant part of the action in the Rp I just wouldn't really go with anything from the Bodach(Brownie) or below(at least not full, maybe half). Be cause those are the "non-social" races(and two animal races, that are different then normal). But Phoukas can be walking around in non-animal form and they would just look like a low Elf with shiny skin. With a Phouka you might want to mention what animal form(s) they favor. And list(I forgot to do this) some of the names they might give to a complete stranger, since, because of the belief that true names give someone control, they would ofter give nick names to complete strangers or enemies.

It doesn't matter whether she is Welsh or not. I just put the Irish version of Elf, so we don't have 5 different names for the same race, I'm not sure what the orgins of some other other Celtic names are.

Thanks for posting your bios, Vana, and Blod.

Here is the link to the Moonlight Riders' Celtic Guild. It should be in the Alliances and Guilds just like the rest of them.

Phoukas: They are a fay/fey. They can can shape shift into animals, they generally prefer one animal, or maybe acouple. When in humaniod form they look like slightly smaller(not much) Evles, with shiney skin, and dark hair. When they change into an animal they are black. And their alignment is generally toward chaos, or neutral. not good not bad. But they are very carefree and love to cause trouble. If they can lure someone to climb onto them, using mind powers(telephathy, images of things they want, etc..), the person will not beable to get off and the Phouka will often drage them down into water, or some other place they want them. But if you speak their true name three times they are bound to do what you tell them to do, they are yours to command. But, Just because you see their true name in a bio does not mean your character has that knowledg. So I must ask EVERYONE to respect the true names of characters, especially fey, and especially Phouka. Not all feys are "true name bound" if they are I ask them to list any names their character might go by, and whether or not they are name bound. But all Phoukas are "true name bound". I hope you got all of that.

Okay so here is a bio for my character:

True Name: Caera (which means spear).
Please don't use this in the roleplay unless/until someone actually finds out my characters real name.
Names Given: Sinann(favourite), Scathach and Bláthnat.
Age: 29
Race: Phooka. Speaks Irish.
Other Shapes: Horse and an Irish Wolf Hound.
Appearance: The slightly gold hint in her skin makes it shiny. Her hair is pitch black with dark blue running through the top layer and her eyes are a deep dark blue. She has a thin lithe shape and appearance. She wears very light clothes so her actions aren't confined. Always wears green. She is usually seen in a simple forest green full length dress which is quite loose.
Personality: Chaotic as with most Phookas. She is a worshiper of Morrigan the goddess of war and death. She spends most of her time learning magic so she can cause trouble. She likes to study the Daoine Sidhe as they can be skilled at magic. She is currently focusing on learning how to shape shift into a crow similar to her goddess.
Talents/Skills: She has a small amount of mind control used to tempt people to do things they shouldn't and occasionally to persuade magical folk to help her learn more magic. When she eats clover (in large amounts) she has the ability to teleport small distances. When she eats strawberries she can create small fireballs which she controls with her mind. Doesn't use weapons other than magic. She has also recently learned how to invoke the goddess Morrigan into her body but she has not tried this yet as invocation is always dangerous and often leads to the body being killed. This would be a last resort if she ever used it.

The reason for the magic and food combination is that I dislike using too much magic in role play because it can get out of hand. This is what I came up with so I could control Sinann's use of it.

If anyone has problems with my bio or post please tell me because I do like help with these things.

EDIT: because symbols appeared instead of writing and I forget things.

Lia, and Siren, thank you for posting your Bios. It is wonderful to have an assortment of characters.

Siren, your Phouka must be young, at least compared to fay standard. How old is she, you didn't put an age.

Lia, I read about the Sluagh in the book by D.J. Conway, Celtic Magic. I mentioned it in the begining of the guild. But it wasn't the first time I had heard or read about "evil fays" or fays that kidnap humans. I can't rememer any other sources at the moment but if I remember or find any more I will let you know.

Vana, that is fine. When ever you are ready to bring her in is fine, I wasn't quite expecting everyone to come in at the same time or place. As you see we have a good assortment, which I think is good.

I have a name for the kidnapped Dryad, but I don't want to use it if it will interfer with anyones' character. I had been planning on usinf the name Sybil. But if someone wants that name, I don't want to make them the Dryad who was kidnapped unless they want to.

Liadan the names Caera gives as nick names are merely names she has found pleasing. She is not related to the real characters.

I would like Caera to be 29 if that is okay? I'm going to have to do more research on the Phooka you are using in the story. I have some information on them but it doesn't really fit in with their characters in this story but that is really a good thing. It means I get to read more books on celtic mythology <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>.

Siren, that age is fine. You will have to let me know what your info says about Phoukas, I am curious to find out the differences. The first time I learned about Phoukas was from the book "The Dreaming Tree" which is "The Dreamstone" and "The Tree of Swords and Jewels" a duology by C.J. Cherryh. A very good book. But I am going more with Conway's description.

I remembered one of the other names I have heard that the fays are similar to the Slaugh, Drow. I also read about the Drow in that book. But the name Slaugh was in the book "Celtic Magic" by D.J. Conway.

Edit:Ok, I don't know why I forgot this, but the Daoine Sidhe(Elves) and the Sluagh(Drow), are supposed to wear a stone on a chain around their necks, this is their soul, and when they die, they just kind of fade, they also have a matching stone on their swords, if they die their soul and their sword are hung on a tree in the center of Tir-nan-Og. So if your character is either of those, add your soul to your bio, and describe how you want it to look. I still can't believe I fogot that in my general description.

Well, I was thinking, the scouting parties would go around, and maybe find some evidence of the Dryad, but still can't find her(you can determine why that may be, have a little fun <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>). And maybe some of the scouts a captured, and so the King, gotta give him a name, "Conan" if nobody objects, would then rally the god fays, and send them against the Slaugh and any that they recruit, maybe some Phoukas since they like to make trouble, It seems like you are in charge on the other side, so whatever fays you want you can probably get some of them.
Any other questions?

I was thinking of incorperating people with Daoine Sidhe(and a few other fey) characters, that have not come in by the time the scouting parties are listed, by using their name in the scouting parties if they don't tell me they have a special way of entering planned.

Also for those Who Wish TO Join but have not posted a bio by that time and have a Daoine Sidhe character(others fays may do this) choose a name on one of the lists if their is one you like. When I post the lists in the RP I will post them as well in here with M or F and the meaning of the name next to them. I plan on having 4-6 people per scouting party.

Everyone Please tell me if this sounds exceptable.
Thanks, Edana

Edana, your suggestion about creating people for the scouting parties sounds quite OK. I'll post here what I've come up with my character so far; if I don't find a good time to write myself in otherwise, you can put me into one of the scouting parties. But, since I'm not too familiar with Celtic mythology, I'd like my character at first to interact a lot with Edana and/or Blodeuedd, until I know the world of this game good enough to manage by myself. And, comments and/or suggestions about my character are welcome. I think she will develop a lot during the game.

Name: Rhiannon
Race: Daoine Sidhe (elf)
Soul: A golden-brown stone in the middle of a golden knot
Age: Some hundred years, maybe?
Appearance: Long deep-red hair, golden-brown eyes, tall, athletic but feminine – and beautiful, of course.
Talents/skills: The beauty and power of her singing voice is surpassed by few; she knows lots of ancient spells she can chant. Usually accompanies her song with a harp. Extremely good rider; can keep on the back of any horse.
Weapons: Bow is her primary weapon, and she’s an excellent archer. She also has a short sword; she has some experience in wielding it but, she isn't very good with it yet.
Animals: Horse (name to be announced later)
Outfit: Usually dresses in shades of green, gold and copper. When travelling, she wears men’s clothing.
Personality: Quiet, calm and steadfast. Whatever she does, she does with determination. She is slow to anger but, when she does, others are better to keep a distance!
History: She has travelled a lot, also in mortal lands. There have been many who would have wanted to marry her but, so far, she hasn't given her heart to anyone.
