Basil you live in Oz??? I didn't know that. I thought you lived in the southern United States somewhere. I guess I am behind the times. Sorry!!
It is 5:37pm PST!! We have been out on a walk just at sunset and then watching the beautiful moon as she is coming full tonight or tomorrow sometime. |

10:20 PM CST. I've just come home from work. The extra hour did me good. I'm munching on a salad with Green Goddess dressing and a herbal tea. Halloween is just barely over and now we've got the Christmas stuff up already. |

Yeah we had our Christmas stuff up before Halloween but they didn't put up the signs till today.
Target was taking their signs down last night as I stopped in to buy candy on my way home. Their Christmas decorations were going up at the same time.
It is 11:47pm PST and I am now off to bed!! |

7:15 am PST. Me too, Calma. I am so used to getting up at a certain time that when I saw it was light out I got a bit panic'd, but all well, clocks set back at 1am Sunday morning.
I only have one clock TO set back or forward, all other clocks do it automatically, including the car.
Sounds like everyone had a good weekend. Mine was pretty good.
I did end up going down to Beaverton and helped with back-in vocals on the CD. I think my SIL thought that no one would show up and there were around 40 of us there But it was worth the time.

5:30 PM.
Calma, that's a good way to start a day off, even if your inner clock wakes you up early.
Rwhen, glad that you had a good time at the recording!
Halloween isn't any big thing here, so very few places decorate for it. Some stores start selling Christmas stuff already in November, but thank goodness, most of them don't put up any decorations until late November or early December. |

Oh time! Scribbles, do they do that silly Daylight savings time thing in Canada too? I have to check to see if I've changed all of my clocks.
I got up early today & made lunch/breakfast & took my daughter back to college. The long drive makes me sleepy. I might have to take a nap. If it weren't so windy & damp outside I might've raked leaves... but a nap sounds so much cozier...

It is 10:48am PST and I hate the daylight savings time too. Ryan said it has something to do with farmers or whatever. Shoot cant they tell when it is light enough to work and not. Why do we all have to so inconvenienced as to have to change our clocks?
Honestly I do not care one way or the other but I think it is a silly thing to keep doing. |

11:05 am PST. Indeed DST was put into effect because of extending farming times. Today that seems silly and there are two states that do not do it at all. Maybe if we were farmers we would feel differently, but ... *shrugs*
Rose, enjoy the nap if you do end up taking one.
Rowen, thanks. It was a fun time in the end. Enjoy the dancing tonight.

Well, its 1:07 and I'm trying to see if I can get into the forums on a borrowed laptop. Mine went down do to some fatal system failure or whatnot. A friend of mine's son is trying to fix it, so hopefully it will get fixed. In the mean time........... |

11:24, shoot I love Daylight Savings Time!
In the fall, we get an extra hour of sleep. (and that sensation of going back in time as the smart clocks go from 12:59 to 12:00)
And in the summer, we have more hours of daylight. Instead of getting off work or school when it's 4, because of the time change, we get out when it's really 3, so an extra hour of sun.
How's everyone doing, good Halloween weekend? |

12:52 am and Lunch break is nearly over . . .
DST for Farmers? Nope, sorry, that's an Urban Myth. Farmers have always run their days by the
sun
, they could give a furry ferret's behind what the clock itself says. I come from a farming family . . . and note that Saskatechewan, which is a HUGE farming province, does NOT practice Daylight Savings time . . . We can blame the Kiwi's and the golfers . . .
Wikipedia said:
The practice is controversial. Adding daylight to afternoons benefits retailing, sports, and other activities that exploit sunlight after working hours, but
causes problems for farming
, evening entertainment
and other occupations tied to the sun.
... Although an early goal of DST was to
reduce evening usage of incandescent lighting, formerly a primary use of electricity,
modern heating and cooling usage patterns differ greatly, and research about how DST currently affects energy use is limited and often contradictory.
Origins:
Modern DST was first proposed by the New Zealand entomologist George Vernon Hudson, whose shift-work job gave him leisure time to collect insects, and made him aware of the value of after-hours daylight. In 1895 he presented a paper to the Wellington Philosophical Society proposing a two-hour daylight-saving shift, and after considerable interest was expressed in Christchurch, New Zealand he followed up in an 1898 paper.
Many publications incorrectly credit DST's invention to the prominent English builder and outdoorsman William Willett, who independently conceived DST in 1905 during a pre-breakfast ride, when he observed with dismay how many Londoners slept through a large part of a summer day. An avid golfer, he also disliked cutting short his round at dusk. His solution was to advance the clock during the summer months, a proposal he published two years later.
Personally, I think it's a lame practice and wouldn't weep for a second to see it drop off the face of the earth.

NOOOOOOOOO Eru!! Bad bad bug collector!!
I notice that people do forget to put the time down here and there. No sweat, as long as we do it as often as we recall to do it. I know that I forget which thread I am on sometimes.
