After the fall of Mordor and the Dark Lord Sauron, the world became a quiet and a peacefull place. However, while the free races were enjoying the new Age,someone was waiting... waiting for the right moment...

A new Dark threat rose in the fallen kingdom of Mordor... a new enemy is born, who called him self the Dark Necromancer.

140 years had passed since the fall of Mordor, until the Dark Necromancer crawled from his hidden lair right under Mt. Doom. He looked around, and said in a deadly, earth-chilling whisper "...at last..." From there he began his work, a work that would change the life of many, and possibly kill many more.

Now, new heroes must be summoned to challenge faith, and defeat the Dark Necromancer by braking his staff.

...and thus Middle Earth was under Darkness once again...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Deep in the heart of the mountains lay a city, hidden from the outside world. It had started as guild of thieves by 4 Gondorian soldiers, who were unjustly exiled from Gondor, for thievery that they did not commit. They vowed to get revenge, and they built a little Underground hideout, a couple of miles west from the Rohan Gate. They were rebels, and they hunted down all those that caused them the wrong. As the years passed, they accepted new rebels to join their cause but kept the guild secret. Though they knew some hand-to-hand combat techniques, the specialized in the arts of silent assaults.
The location of the Guild was never disclosed, and those that knew its where abouts found refuge in it. And thus, The Guild of Thieves grew into a small underground town, with all races . Each new member took a vow to never tell another living soul of the guild's location.
One of these members was Lordar. Lordar was an ex Gondorian soldier, but he managed to escape before the siege and fall of Gondor. He had no parents, and he didn't want to fight for Gondor any more. He saught refuge, and he met the rebels of the Guild of Thieves.
He took the vow and joined their cause. He was still young, nearly 17. He trained fighting with 2 small swords and became quit good at it. Although he wasn't tall, any man he stood up to started to feel small and shrinked after a while. His main weakness was, that in battles he always lost his mind. He just fought, until he got dizzy.
He was just sitting at the small Inn the rebels built ( it was more like a few benches with barrels of ale around). He was sitting alone, for the scouts reported that tonight the army of the Necromancer will march through these lands. The question was did they know about the guild. Yes, there was quit a tension in the air...
Sabrelin walked silently into the city of the thieves guild. She had been here quite often, but always managed to go unnoticed. This time, she came for refuge, seeking a safe haven, more from herself then any undead enemy. She could feel the dead, a shadow ever in the back of her mind. She did not fear them the way normal men and elves would, she feared herself. Ever since the dead had been called back she had faced many of them. Each time she had felt the urge to dive into the black pool only she could sense, and order all the dead back with ancient incantations rolling off her tongue, but she resisted. She feared the black pool, and what she would do if she were overpowered by the dark necromancer, or if she'd loose control of the words of power spilling from her and either bring all the dead back to the world of the living, or all the living into death. Each time she fought, she came nearer to the black pool, each time her resolve weakened.
An image of her father flashed before her eyes, causing her heart to ache. He had been an elven necromancer, and had sought only to learn, but was pulled into the black pool, and lost his life trying to escape, though he was able to save his soul from corruption. At his memory her eyes filled with sorrow, tearless. She could not cry, pain was such an everyday thing, her eyes held no tears to release, but could convey her pain with much more power than any tear ever could.
She glanced about the street, glimpsing familiar gold eyes in an alleyway. A thin smile spread across her lips, Larka, the night black wolf had followed her, her only companion, her only friend. She caught the scent of the dead less than a day's journey away, and involuntarily quickened her pace. She'd stay at an inn tonight.
As she came to the only inn in town, she felt a man brush past her, and gently reach his hands into her pockets. With lightning reflexes she grabbed his hand and had him on the ground in seconds, unconscious. Of course he wasn't hurt, but he'd be out for about an hour, guessed Sabrelin. She continued on her way inside and as soon as she stepped in, the inn fell silent. Sabrelin had that affect on people when she wanted to be noticed. She saw a young man sitting still in the corner. Their eyes met, her coal black eyes boring into his. She noted the hint of red his eyes had flashed for an instant. She walked over and sat down beside him. The rest of the inn cautiously turned back to their drinks, pondering at the unusual quality about the stranger
"What's your story?" she asked the young man, and waited for his reply.
" How can you talk about stories at a night such as this?" answered Lordar, and took a sip from his beer. When the dark woman sat next to him, he felt even more fear...somehing was very unusuall about her.
There was a silence between them for a short time. " I'am from Gondor!Good manners man!" he thought.
" I'am Lordar, son of Lordin-ak..." he started, but a yelling voice had interupted him.
" The Undead are coming! The Undead are coming! Arm yourselves!" yelles the scout, and ran on to inform the rest of the guild.
" No....i can't...." thought Lordar... his fear of Undead was greater than ever.
People from the guild quickly got their weapons and lined up near the entrance. " No...please no...." thought Lordar and a tear of fear jumped out of his eye, cleaning his muddy face.
Chase looked behind her, sensing evil following her. There she saw something that she had seen many times, but never encountered. The fearful undead were hot on her heals. "How the dwarf did they get so close to me without me noticing!" she cursed herself. "Naro lim! Move Hathgar! Ride like the wind my friend!" Her grey and white specked horse bolted down the path, dodging trees and leaping over ditches and streams. Chase thought to herself, "Where's the nearest place to hide...ah! The thieves city! I can go there..."
"LET ME IN YOU FILTHY SCUM! LET ME IN!" Chase pounded on the gates of the city frantically. She had travled far since she noticed the undead following her. They were close behind her, and if the thieves didn't take her in, she would be left outside to fend for herself, and likely die. "LET ME IN! I'LL SEE THAT THE VALAR HANG YOU ALL BY YOUR TOENAILS IF I DIE OUT HERE!"
A tall, young woman entered the inn cautiously as shouts emmitted from within. With raised eyebrows and calm expression on her face she looked at her surroundings.
"The Dead are coming! Arm yourselves!"
She glanced over to her right and saw a small band of men hurriedly unsheathing swords and fitting arrows to their bows. She smirked and stepped inside. She made her way over to an even smaller group of only two, side-stepping blundering men who were both drunken and panicked.
Curling her fingers around the hilt of the sword that hung in its sheath at her side she stated, "Apparently there's some high-toned and fancy to do, eh?" she paused and looked back over her shoulder. "But maybe they've all just had a bit too much ale..."
Lordar stepped out of the Inn. People were running around, wielding their weapons. Lordar has always had his 2 short swords hanging from behind his back. He raised his arms to bring them out, but then his eye caught the most sweetest thing he had ever seen. It was a girl in black tunic. Her hair was like a light in the dark.
Lordar stood there, staring at her until a man in chainmail crashed into him.
" Allright men! Line up to a formation! " yelled the Leader. ( The guild of thieves called him the leader, though it wasn't a hereditary thing like kings and that stuff.)
Now again, people started moving around searching for a good spot, but it was more organized.
Lordar took 2 steps forward. On his left he had the strange girl, and on his right was the new one, in the balck tunic. After a couple of seconds, the guild was quiet.
" Halt!" yelled a dreadfull voice from somewhere far outside.
" Dark one, they are here..." said anohter voice. It was like a voice without sound...like a whisper, but everyone could hear it.
" So they know we are here..." thought Lordar...
Everyone knew the tactic. The gates will open, and then charge forward, but HOLD THE LINE. The question was, why didn't they hear a march???
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Everyone was looking forward, but Lordar looked to his right.
" That girl...she has no fear?"
"Open the gates!" yelled the Leader...
"...oh no..."
...fear...death....glory...
"Hm," Mithnen muttered as they all rushed outside. "Such courtesy..." Without hesitation, she followed the crowd and was met by a cool night breeze; but the smell of death lingered in the air. She stopped, well, dead in her tracks and stared ahead. For the first time in many years she felt frightened. Her stomach went up into her throat and it seemed as if her heart had stopped. Her jaw clenched and her fingers seemed reluctant to completely draw her sword from the sheathe.
Someone bumped into her from behind, bringing her to her senses. "Pardon me," she murmured sarcastically and drew her sword. Stepping forward, she tried to supress her fear...or at least make sure no one else knew she was afraid.
The gates flung open and everything that she had long denied but even longer feared came back to haunt her.
Chase branded her Partizan and took to batle posistion. Her deep brown eyes scanned around her look at the men and women that were preparing to defend their lives. "So...hunting orcs has led up to this? Ai! Sweet Lady In White guid our weapons and lead us to victory!" she prayed. Ai! ELBERETH!" she cried as their foes rushed in upon them.
" For honor and glory!" yelled Lordar, and followed the rest.
He charged forward, but the sight shocked him. Thousands of skeletons just waiting to slaughter them, and then resummon them...
Lordar drew his 2 short swords...
The skeleton army was still pretty far away.
"...send the chariots..." said a dark character, in a black coat withhis hood on. Hundreds of chariots with scythed wheels lumbered forward, being dragged by skeleton horses.
Lordar forgot his faith, and said "Elbereth...be mercifull..."
The girl with the blond hair was now infront of him, so he tried to keep up, but she was recklesly running, and yelling.
" TO BATTLE!" yelled the Leader just before his head met the 1st chariot.
Steel rang on steel and anguished cries filled the night air. Mithnen parried the attacks that came her way. In a moment of freedom she scanned the area with deep gray eyes and noticed another female among the men. She slashed her way over to her, bringing down one of the undead that had been preparing itself to attack her from behind.
"Marvelous, eh?" she asked the other girl, who looked about the same age as she. While shoving her fears into the back corner of her mind, Mithnen fought and had a rather one-sided conversation. "Seems like it'd be a rather nice night if these guys hadn't shown up. Nice of 'em to stop by though; if only they had brought a cup o' sugar. I have a powerful hankering for some cake..."
She stabbed upward and her blade met with the stomach of one of the attackers. She could feel her stomach heave. She blinked furiously for a moment, trying to clear her senses. Gulping, she continued the fihgt with the undead, though remained as close to the other girl as she could.
Chase, though deathly afraid of these creatures knew that she could not hide from them-it was fight or die. Many times she had almost made the mistake of cowering before her enemies, but if it wasn't for her strict training she would now be long dead. An image of her father and mother flashed before her eyes as her partizan clashed against the battle ax of a living skeleton. She wondered how these things could be killed-or IF they could be killed. She and the monster parried a few attacks, but Chase grew weary and quickly drew out one of her small knives. She slashed at her enemy's throat and the head popped off and rolled next to her feet." Lovely," she said in a sarcastic tone to no one in particular, "Pop goes the skull. Quite revolting if you think about it..." The body of that skeleton kept moveing though. Chase kicked the skull about 15 yards from where it had lain at her feet. She then went to find another target, which happened to be only a few feet away from her. "DIE YOU FOWL BEAST OF EVIL! YOU SHALL NOT CONQUER YOU SON OF AN URUK!" When she said that, she saw a chariot of sorts dash by and she felt something slice across her arm. The driver of the chariot had caught her on the arm, and blood gushed forth from the wound, she gave a brief cry of shock and pain. She ignored the wound and continued fighting, though. Chase could hardly see, even with her elf eyes, in the darkness. She looked around for that one 'boy' and his elf friend, and saw them not too far away fighting fiercly, but still alive.
When Sabrelin had heard the warning shout, she had groaned inwardly, this was the fifth fight she had been in in the past 2 days. As she entered the fight, she immediatley felt the tug of the black pool. She swung her elven blades with unmatched speed, and within moments had severed all the limbs of her undead opponent. She moved on to the next, and the next. Before long she found herself surrounded by the dead on all side. Fury burned in her coal black eyes, offsetting her pale skin. She stood still, waiting for them to make the first move, then she attacked, a blur of motion, decapitating as she went, and counting down the dead down from ugly to ugliest aloud.
She saw a path free to the gate with torches burning. She raced through the battle and jumped on the gate. she unslung her bow from her back and quickly lit her arrows with the torch. She aimed and fired twenty arrows in quick succesion, burning the wagons pulled by the skeletal horses and another fifty arrows starting small fires on the borders of the dead. When she was through, she slung her bow on her back, grabbed an extra torch, lit it and jumped back into the battle.
As she landed on the ground and was about to make for her small fires to try and create a perimeter of flames around the dead, a rather large skeleton stepped in front of her. It curled it's lifeless jaws into an evil grin, and swung his blade. She ducked, and jabbed at it with her torch, setting it alight and helpless. Sabrelin grabbed three more torches lying around. She shoved a torch into the hands of the three people fighting nearest to her,Mithnen , Chase and Lordar. She lit their torches and beckoned for them to follow her. As they fought their way through, she quickly explained what she had in mind.
"Sweet Elbereth...fire can kill these...things?" asked Chase as she followed the Elf that had lit her torch. "How?" As they were running, one of the undead challenged her and she drew her partizan from it's sheath and fought him, "Now now...don't seem to eager my fine bony friend, you'll be put out of your misery soon enough."
"Thrust the fire into him!" cried the elder Elf that Chase had been following. chase immediatly did so and her foe shreaked in pain. Chase cringed-her ears were more sensitive to high pitched noises that most. "Touchy, aren't we?" she asked as the victim disinigrated right before her, "That's nice."
"As nice as it may be, we are in deep trouble ladies!" said Lordar trying to breathe. "Look around! The men are retreating!"
"We must hide somewhere immediatly, the guild is to be burned..." he yelled, so the Elf in the black tunic could hear him. As they were running through the ranks of skeletons, something catched Lordar by the throat and picked him up high into the air.
It was a giant skeleton, more bigger than he has ever seen...
"help..."thought Lordar, and went unconciouss....
The torch was thrust into her free hand. She glanced down at it, and then back up at the oncoming skeletons. "Oh," she muttered, using the torch like a sword and running them through. "Nice." She cringed at the rank smell that drifted on the breeze, but continued her onslaught.
She looked over her shoulder and saw the boy quickly retreating. What? A skeletal hand had reached around his throat and was now hanging him up in the air. "He must drink a ton of milk a day," she stated to herself. Ducking and weaving around the dead, or undead, and their weapons and chariots, she made her way to him, hoping that she didn't have to try and do this all by her lonesome.
"Reatreat? Retreat to where! These things are all over the place!" Replied Chase to her companions, then her she looked up at the stars and prayed for help. She saw the boy that she was retreating with. "Oh my..." A HUGE skeleton had a grip on his throat and it was trying to break his neck. "I don't think so." Chase another another girl ran to him and she cut off his hand that was choking the boy. The girl thrust her torch into the creature and he was quickly gone. Chase pried the hand off of the boy's throat and tried to wake him up. "Argh! Help me! He's unconcious! Help me drag him over to that building...we might be safe there.
The building was a store shed, where they kept food, but sadly not where they kept weapons. There were two windows in it that had cross bars. There the four of them-the elves, the female human and boy human-hid. The skeletons soon found them out and started banging on the doors. "One might think they'd come through the windows if they really wanted us," muttered Chase. They heard a breaking noise as several skeletons crashed through the windows. "I spoke jsut a wee bit too soon..." she knocked down -with the help of the others- a barrel of oil and she through her torch onto it, light up the building. Having spied an escape door, she and the others made for it. When they turned around, though, they met a skeleton that was waiting for them. Chase screamed at the top of her lungs as she realized she had left her partizan outside and couldn't defend herself. But then, a light burst through the window, "dawn!"
Everyone was hoping that the light would save them. Wrong!
The huge skeleton just looked directly towards sun, and then it looked back at the fellowship. Its expression said "Now, what will you do?"
It was now that Lordar came back to his sences. As he was lying on the ground, he grabbed his sword and smashed it against the skeleton's legs. It fell on the ground, its bones scattering all over the place. Lordar stood up, and walked to the window. The skeletons were now chasing the running men- those that survived the slaughter.The skeletons couldn't run as fast, but the chariots could ! When a chariot charged a running group of men form behind, limbs flew all over the place. Lordar closed his eyes, and turned back, leaning on the wall. Then he sat down on the cold ground.
"They don't know we are here." he said in a very quiet voice.
" We must stay hidden in here."
He looked at the blond girl, who was trying to catch her breath. "Thank you, for saving my life anyway, when I nearly choked..." said Lordar. He has never seen a more beautifull woman.
She sighed as she leaned against the wall. Looking over at the rest of her companions she noticed the expression on the boy's face. She followed his gaze and found what he was so enamored with: the blonde one. "Of course..." she muttered. Leaving the wall she turned to the other three, arms crossed in front of her.
"Well," she began exhasperatedly. "If the sun didn't deter these things, then what can?" She blew a stand of hair from in front of her eyes. "The name's Mithnen, by the way...just in case any of you were wondering."
She stood fixed to the spot, hoping someone would have some kind of explanation because something that had never happened to her finally came to pass: she was speechless.
"Mithren is the one that saved your life, milord, not I," she addressed Lordar, "My name is Alqualossen. You may call me Chase though, that is what all my friends call me. I can not answer your question, Mithnen. all I know is they can be 'destroyed' with fire. This is the first time I have fought with them...and it looks like this darling thieves city is about to be destroyed. Let us hope these creatures do not give us anymore suprise parties, or I shall die of shock..." she then added quietly as she pushed her short white hair back behind her ears, revealing the pointed tips that showed her elven heritage, "I wonder what my Nanath would say to all this."
Sabrelin glanced at the rising sun, then back to her new companions. A smile lit up her face as she caught the expression on Lordar's face towards Chase, but it immediately disappeared as she glanced back out the window. The undead were pushing the members of the thieves guild farther and farther into the city. Horror came over her as they broke into a large barn, which immediately filled with the screams of the children hiding inside.
She knew she could put off her journey into death no longer. The pull of the black pool became too great, as the dead began their massacre inside the barn. Her eyes fogged over, and she lowered herself to her knees as she plunged her soul into the waiting water. The cold hit her, but as opposed to freezing her, it merely comforted her, and she became as a fish, and breathed the black water. She could feel the dark necromancer close, calling the dead back to life, she'd have to work fast. She raised her hands and focused, then spoke the word "Rauco", and immidiately, a light appeared between her hands. She spoke quickly, her voice forming ancient words that the dead must heed, or disintigrate in life. Her eyes were closed with concentration, but she could feel the ball of light pulling the dead into it. She cringed as their joints brushed past her wrists, but did not waver in her incantation. Once all of the dead attacking the thieves guild were summoned, she gathered in her will, and with one mighty burst, she threw the now enormous ball of light from her, and deeper into death.
She smiled a grim smile of satisfaction, she had done it, and she had not even met the dark necromancer. Sabrelin was exhausted, and she began swimming up to the surface and into life. But, having completed her task, she became self confident and slowed her pace. Moments before she'd break the barrier, she felt a blade of darkness rip into the flesh of her soul. She doubled over with pain, and immediately recognized the stench of the dark necromancer. He wrenched the blade from her side, twisting it as he pulled, to ensure a more painful death, but this was his one mistake. In the brief moment before the blade descended again, she kicked free of him and broke the surface of the black water, coming back into life.
When she opened her eyes, she found herself back in her body, with deep red blood, almost black, streaming from her side. She looked up into the shocked faces of her companions, some now filling with fear.
" You are bleeding!" shouted Lordar in shock, and he immediatly jumped to her. He closely examined the wound.
" It seems...as ... your blood is black?" he said more suprised,and then he added "It will heal in a day or two. Its just a stab. Lay down meanwhile."
*BASH*Someone has kicked the doors in. In it, stood a dark character wearing a hood. Sabrelin tried to stand up, but Lordar held her tight.
The dark character was holding a big staff in one hand with skulls on both ends, and a black dagger in his other hand.
The companions stood there shocked.
The Necromancer slowly raised his arm, and pointed to Sabrelin.
"...thou..." he said with the most coldest voice Lordar has ever heard.
Chase immediatly threw one of her daggers at the Necromancer, but it just reflected off of something like an invisible shield, and then she rushed over to Lordar and Sabrelin realizing that he wanted the Elder Elf. "We'll protect you, my friend, we'll protect you." Chase glared at the evil Necromancer, he filled her with unending dread.
" We will never give up!" yelled Lordar, and he ran to the back of the house. He opened the back door, and then said " Ladies, carrie Sabrelin out. I will give you time!" and he drew his 2 swords.
" For glory!" he thought, but something went wrong, and he was , by some unseen force floating in the air...
"Help!" he yelled.
Chase picked pulled Sabrelin to her feet and drug her outside the back door with the help of Mithnen. "Lordor! Get out of there you fool, you'll get yourself killed! Oh..Nwalme where are you when I need you!!" Chase let Mithnen help Sabrelin the rest of the way while she went to get Lordor onto the ground. She grabbed one of his feet and started pulling, but he wouldn't come down. she stopped pulling for a minute and glowered at the Necormancer. All of a sudden, out of nowhere sprun a brilliant white Tiger, he placed himself infront of Chase and growed a fierce growl at their Evil opponent. "Let him down, Necromancer, or be torn to pieces." The Evil one hissed and dissapeared. At the same time Lordor was released from the spell and came toppling ontop of Chase, who was unfortunatly standing underneath him.
"Run now!" yelled Lordar, and he and Chase ran outside. It was a foggy morning. But something wasn't right. Just a second ago, the Guild of Thieves was plundered by a countless army,and now...no skeletons, no lumbering chariots...not even corpses. Only muddy ground, covered with blood. Lordar started a little campfire just to warm them. "Sabrelin. You have necromantic powers." he said at last.
" Do you know how we can defeat the Dark Necromancer?"
It was quit. She didn't answer. So he dat next to Chase.
" I don't think we have been properly introduced. My name is Lordar ( not LORDOR! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>). "
(ooc::sooo sorry Heroic...my hands have been freezing all day and havn't been able to type correctly...sooo sorry about the name...)
"Mae Govannen, Lordar. I am Alqualossen, but you may call me Chase...what an odd night this has been...I wonder how these undead knew about the guild. Something feels wrong...Nwalme here," she reached down and stroked the White Tiger's black striped fur, " was just telling me some news from the South. He says the undead have been making appearances down in Harad, and southern Gondor. This worries me greatly."
Sabrelin stared into the flames, so much had happened so fast. Though the stab wound did not appear deep, her soul had been gouged, it would take many years to heal completely, such was the effect of an attack on the soul. Why had she been frozen in that moment? Why couldn't she react? She wished she would have been able to tell the others to flee. Of course she would most likely have ended up dead, but at least then she would be rid of her cursed powers, that had forced her to become and outsider, even in her own home.
She sighed, then began to speak. "I have heard of a prophecy. A prophecy that foretells the rise and fall of a dark lord whose armies are the dead. I have never heard it's words, only of its existence. It lies in the great library of Orthanc, in Isengard," she paused then continued, "Thank you, all of you. If it were not for you, I'd be dead, my mind had been clouded, I could not react," she trailed off, lowering her eyes. She hated to be in anyone's debt.
Suddenly, from the bushes stepped a night black wolf. Everyone jumped to their feet, except for Sabrelin. The wolf calmly walked over to her and brushed her head against her hand, then looked at her. Sabrelin smiled back, her friend had come to make sure she was alright, though if she had been in real danger, the wolf would have been at her side in minutes, she had known that Sabrelin had her companions for protection. She then learned that the dead were making their way further south, leaving the way clear to Isengard. Sabrelin gave her a look of thanks and with one last brush against her hand, the wolf left. The wind picked up a bit, and Sabrelin felt it tear in to the wound in her soul, but she said nothing. She knew her wound would make her hyper sensitive to the world around her.
Lordar looked down at the ground. It was getting really cold.
" I wonder...how did the army disappear? And how in the world Sabrelin, did u read books in Orthanc..."
Lordar looked a little troubled. Never in his whole life, did he even think something like this would happen.
" I think...i own all of ye an explanation..." he said and looked at the rest. They were shivering.
"I'am weak. I could have resisted the necromancer's spell. But I don't have enough inner strenght. I'am cursed..." he said, and then he put his hood on.
