Pull out your pack and head on down to the Prancing Pony for some great Role Playing (try to stay in character)!

Postby Aiduial » Sat Jan 10, 2004 5:54 pm

The old thread was closed as our sponsor left before we got going and so Shadowjack closed that thread and said we could start a new one. Below is the storline set up by the LSnicket:

In the Second Age, a child was born to an elven father and mortal mother. Both perished soon after and the child was sent away to Lorien. They could not keep her there and sent her away again to Mirkwood where she was raised in the wild, by herself and one he-elf who often left her. The half-elf called herself Erutis. There was a prophecy spoken long before Erutis was born, she would bring peace to the world. But to gain this peace, a great war would be fought, many lives lost. Erutis herself would have to take a long journey to retrieve a precious jewel that has long been lost. She is surrounded by enemies and allies along this journey and has to face a test the half-elf never thought she would.

Ok, so post if you'd like to join. You can basically be any character you want but make sure you stick to the story line. Someone can be the he-elf that helped raise Erutis. By the way, Erutis is the mortal age of sixteen during this story. Thank you!

We have decided to adapt this a bit. Ok, so I did the changes. below you can see what the new result:

A he-elf in the Gaurd of lorien, by the name of Hiise fell in love with a mortal woman at the end of the last Alliance. HE married her, and soon after, she agve birth to a half-elven girl. Her parents named her Lote, the flower. Soon after, however, both of her parents were killed in a journey back to Rohan, where Lote's mother was from. They were less than a league from teh Golden Wood. Scouts found the child, and brought her back with them, where it was determined that she be raised by a recluse living ina deserted northen section of the land. There she was raised, until now, when it has been determined that she is ready to join her mother's people, and to help save that land from an impending disaster.

The characters:

Name: Lote (the flower)
Age: the equivalent of the mortal age 16
Gender: Female
Race: Elven Father, Human Mother
Alliance: None, she lives with a recluse
Appearance: Lote is about 5'8", shorter than the average Elven male, but taller than the average Human female. Her hair is auburn with blonde tints, and it falls in loose ringlets to the small of her back. Generally she keeps it up in Heidi braids, so as to keep it out of her way. Her eyes are aquamarine, with a faint ring of yellow around her pupils. She wears what you see legolas wore in the movies.
Weapons: Bow, quarter staff, daggers, sling. can use a swordd, but doesn't have one.
Skills: Healing, Assassin, Woods-keeper

Name: Maryn, Daughter of Narn of Moria
age: About 30
sex: female
Home: Moria
job: Sharpening, engraving, polishing and repairing axe-heads in her father’s smithing workshop and town story keeper (bard).
Race: Dwarf (though it is very much suspected she's half Hobbit, and she's often mistaken for a Hobbit by those who don't know her)
weapon: Proficient though not expert with most Dwarf weaponry, and if this is still the point where the Dwarves of Moria were friends with Elves and men, some swords and things too (if not, Just Dwarf weapons).
Description: Without much in the way of education, Maryn made her way though the world using instinct. She worked in a smithy for most of her life, doing the small jobs that her father couldn’t be bothered with. She is shorter and thinner than the average Dwarf, and much quicker too, and in some of her social circles her nickname became the Dwarf word for 'Hobbit' since she was very un-Dwarf like (people suspected, and often Maryn did too- that her mother was a Hobbit). She has auburn hair and slate gray eyes- no beard, just long sideburns, which she often shaves. She's fascinated by cultures (Elves fascinate her to no end, especially those in Mirkwood), especially language, and was one of the only Dwarves ever to attempt to learn Sindarin- Her father absolutely loathed the idea. Her mother died in childbirth, and her father refused to talk about her much, and when he did it was never by name.
But Maryn is determined to know her mother, and whether the gossip is true...

Name: Omni
Gender: Male
Race: unknown; human-like
age: unkown; looks 16
Physical appearance: black hair, black eyes, tanned skin
Clothes: black tunic and vest, silver trim (stolen from Gondor), khaki pants, too-big boots
Weapons: Sword, bow, poison darts
Abilities: magic, bandit

Name: Echo
Gender: Female
Race: unknown; human-like
Age: unknown; looks 14
Physical appearance: light brown hair, dark eyes, pale skin, twin scars down both arms from shoulder to wrist (on tops of arms)
Clothes: black mourning dress (stolen from Osgiliath), men's belt, sandals
Weapons: Staff, slingshot, broken sword
Abilities: magic, bandit, singer

Notes: Echo has no memory of her past. Omni is her guardian, as it is his job to return her safely to her home, though he will not speak of their homeland. He believes it best for Echo to remember on her own. Both carry an animal with them; Echo's a black and yellow spotted lizard, Omni's a black raven. Neither of them are very open, but Echo tends to get lost and meet strangers in this way. Her skills with her magic are shoddy, as she'd forgotten them along with everything else, and therefore is pron to causing mayhem.

Name: Alqualinduin (swan-song river)

Race: Elf, of Sindarin and Avari blood.

Occupation: Artist-scholar-woodsman-hermit and foster-father to Erutis.
Appearance: Very long black hair that hangs in ringlets. Pale blue-grey eyes, straight, fine nose; high cheekbones, thin lips that are often pursed as he studies, but which do smile with genuine joy on a regular basis. He is quite strong, though not bulky-muscled. Tanned skin that is usually in need of bathing.

History: Born to a Sindarin mother, Alqualin knew from a young age that he was a little bit different from his playmates. Soon the story (kept hushed for so long) came out, of his Avari blood, but his mother would never name the elf. Scandal burned both thier ears, yet neither Alqualin nor anyone else besides his mother ever knew a thing about his mysterious father. Instead of being ashamed by the gossip, though, he grew up as an artist who was strong and confident in himself--if rather distant and withdrawn. He continued to withdraw ever more over the decades, until finally he wandered off one day into Lorien with all his things, disappearing from elvish society for months. Even his only true friend--Lote's father Hiise--did not know where he had gone. His mother seemed accepting of it, telling her friends, "It is his way. I always knew it would come to this. He is just like his father..." and spoke no more of it.

So Alqualin lived: alone in Lorien's wilds. Alqualin was quite happy with this. Solitude was his ally and friend. but soon something came up which disrupted his solitude: a little baby girl named Lote, the only offspring of his true friend Hiise who had so recently been killed. He decided that the little girl was his responsibility, and raised her up in the wilds of Lorien.

Skills: artistic talent, reads many languages of the past and the present, excellent woodsman. A certain red wolf is a friend of his.

Name: Theor
Age: 210
Gender: male
Race: elf from the realm of rivendell
Physical appearance: light blonde flowing hair, brown eyes, usually dresses in a dark cloak of Elven make, and pale skin. He wears an intricately designed Elven belt, and an Elven made dagger holder at his shoes.
Weapons: long sword, bow and arrow, and daggers.
Special abilities: has a very basic ability in Elven magic.

Notes: Theor is an orphan because his mother died at birth and his father shortly after due to the grieve he was facing of the loss of his wife. Since he was 50 Theor has been searching for the purpose in his life and is willing to fight for any worthy cause to bring him that much closer to his father when his father fought in the great elfish battle many centuries ago. On every adventure he makes each battle gives him a smattering as to what his father felt like and brings him that much closer to his dead parents.

I may have looked at this before the re-post, so I have no idea if I alraedy had acharacter profile up.

Sure, I'd love to be part of this RP, as long as there can be some greater depth added to it! It's a little cliche right now, so revamping the plot may not be such a bad idea<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

What jewel? The Silmaril? <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> Hehe...that was a bit farfetched, wasn't it? Anyway, hurry up with the storyline. I don't mean to nag. It's just that I want to join this thread and I need to know more about what we're supposed to be doing...<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Do you want my character from the old OCC thread? he was called Ranlachdil, but I'd change his name to Alqualinduin for this RP since I named a different character Ranlach.

--Aiwe

I like the new plot. I had a character in the old topic, Maryn the female Dwarf.

The new plot is good, and it's good to have a differant motivation thn most of Tolkien's works, a bt of variety. Count me in still!

This RP sounds pretty good...I think I might join<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> Can't decide wether I should make up a new character or not for this one though...I have Amrunelen(elf) that I use for most RPs, Rune(a pirate) that I only use for The Black Pearl, and Alstarael(wizard/sorceress type being) that I use for another RP but she wouldn't really fit in here.

What do you think Aidi? New? Old? I can't decide<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0><img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Okay, we have characters, we have plot, and now all we need is the RP.

I wonder why things like this take so long?
Answer: Because not everybody has finished processing their thoughts.

Where is this going to start out from? We're obviously functioning around Elves, but will the RP begin in Lorien, Imladris, or some unrelated place alltogether? WEEEE!

I ask too many questions!

Aidi- Is it ok if I have two characters? If not, just say so and I'll drop one<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>I have come up with a new one but I don't really want to give Amrunelen up all together since it seems that there are quite a few elves<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> My other character is a human. I was going to have them be traveling companions or something of that sort. Guess I'll put some bios here then....

Name:Aeriel
Gender: Female
Race: men(specificly, of the Northern Kingdom)
Age: 25
Languages: Common speech and elvish
Appearance: straight black hair a little past shoulder length, grey eyes, and around 5ft 7in. She most often wears typical traveling clothes and a grey or forest green cloak.
Weapons: a sword, a bow with arrows, and a silver dagger.
Notes/History: She grew up mainly in the wild, venturing out with her father who is one of the Rangers of the North. Of her mother she did not know much, for she had disappeared while Aeriel was very young. Most often she spends her time traveling throughout Middle-earth, favoring the elvish realms over most places and always in her heart hoping that she would hear some word of her mother's fate, if she yet lived or what had happened to her. She is skilled in combat with blade and bow.
((This bio is still sort of in progress<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> I'll come up with more details about her as the story goes on...))

Name: Amrunelen (translation- sunrise star)

Race: Elves

Gender: Female

Alliance: Lothlorien

Languages: Common speech, Sindarin and Quenya (most often uses the common speech around others)

Horse: Name- Tindanare (Silver flame), She is silver grey with a small white star upon her back.

Weapons: A sword with flowing elvish script along the blade, a bow of the Galadrim, and a dagger. Other various things I often carry: a small silver horn inscribed with elvish designs, a phial containing some of the light of Earendil(like to that given to Frodo but a bit smaller), and a bell bandolier(sounds kind of odd but it will be explained better in my history. That actually should be with my weapons...)

Appearance: Sea-grey eyes that hold the light of youth yet wisdom of many years, long dark brown hair, and gives off a pale white light as is typical for elves. Most often wears traveling clothes with a cloak of elven grey, but when at home or mingling with other Lords and Ladies she often wears a mantle of silver and blue with a silver circlet upon her head. Always she wears a necklace with a single white gem that's light rivals even that of the stars. It was passed down to her from her mother.

Personality: Kind to all of those of the light but wary of those allied with darkness, valiant in battle, fair yet terrible when angered, loyal to her friends and Lothlorien.

History: Amrunelen was born and raised in Lothlorien, her mother, Tinwe, and father, Ear-gil, both being from there. Ear-gil died when she was fairly young, by elves reckoning. He had been out traveling shortly after the last alliance, which he was part of, and the defeat of Sauron and returned badly wounded a couple of weeks later. Galadriel tended to him with her powers of healing but it was hopeless. He died later in the night, never to pass on to Valinor. Before he died, he made sure to hand down one specific possesion of his to his only child. It was was a bell bandolier with a set of bells that were most often used by Necromancers. He used them for good purposes though, banishing the dead who should not have risen back to death. The Lord and Lady of the Golden Wood knew of his deeds but did not speak of them to many. Most elves did not see that even some magic used by those who are allied with darkness could in fact be used otherwise. Ear-gil's death remained a mystery, as far as what had attacked him and why. Amrunelen and her mother continued living on in Lothlorien until her mother left after the War of the Ring and chose to sail across the sea to the Undying Lands, to Eldamar. Amrunelen remained in Middle Earth with the few of her race that did not yet want to leave those shores.

Edit- One question, when exactly is this RP taking place? In the original first post it said about the second age so I'm guessing somewhere in there, but I just want to be sure<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

Edit2- Since no one seemed to oppose, I'm going to use both characters<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>
