Traveling Soldiers - OOC

Pull out your pack and head on down to the Prancing Pony for some great Role Playing (try to stay in character)!

When reading about the armies of Forlong and Hirluin and the men who marched all the way from Morthond, Anfalas and Lossarnach to defend Gondor, ever wonder about the stories behind such people? Tolkien really didn’t elaborate much on the southern regions of Gondor or its people and I have been struck by the plight of the common soldier at the Battle of Pelennor Fields.

Hundreds and hundreds of leagues away from home after an already tiring journey, these fishermen, farmers, herders and hillsmen were a huge, often overlooked, part of the battle. So I am proposing an RP that tells their story. From the moment they leave their homes and loved ones to their experience on the battlefield to the return trip home (if they make it).

It would be an RP that would require a lot of creativity and probably the genesis of new characters (mostly Gondorian men). There could be people representing the people of:
- Imrahil of Dol Amroth
- Dunhere, Chieftain of the folk of Harrowdale
- Forlong of Lossarnack
- Devorin of Ringlo Vale
- Duinhir and sons Duilin and Dorufin, of Blackroot Vale from the uplands of Morthond
- From Anfalas, the Langstrand, hunters and herdsman
- From Lamedon a few grim Hillsman
- Fisher folk of Ethir
- Hirluin of Pennith Gelin (where mine would be from)

My initial idea was perhaps everyone starting off with their own separate companies marching towards the city then somehow getting separated (or perhaps they didn't start off with their company at all) and meeting up with each other and forming their own little alliance.

It would sort of be like a microcosm of the fellowship, but instead of representing all the races of Middle Earth and going to destroy the ring it would be all the different men of Gondor going to fight in defense of their land and people. They would have to overcome whatever differences they might have in order to achieve their ultimate goal of reaching the city and maybe they might have some fun adventures along the way. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

As a college student already involved in one RP, I would not always be able to be on top of managing it, so I would need some dedicated RPers to help out.

I would discourage any immortals or lots of women unless they seem to fit reasonably into the story, but there is a wide variety of people in the lands of southern Gondor and lots of room for creativity and ingenuity.

It would very much the oddysey of a group of men (with perhaps a woman or two!) trying to get to Minas Tirith, not entirely sure what they are riding to. My aim is to show the strength and character of the men who in Tolkien's works are just numbers. This is just the barest bones of a story, I would love any and all suggestions (anyone thinks another title might work better, just let me know). It is just an aspect of the stories that has always intrigued me. If you would like join I request that you please first carefully read all of the posts in the IC and post a short character bio in here before you do so.

I'm looking for serious RPers who are willing to put in thoughtful posts that follow the basic grammar rules (capitalization, punctuation, spelling, the works).

So you don't really have a setting at all for this story? No general ideas?

Maybe there should be a war the characters could go off to together. Each separate character's story would have to somehow combine with the others,' so why not come up with a common interest in all of this?

Like, for example, they could be tracking down some family members or friends held captive by the opposing army, or they could all be fighting the same battle over some great conflict, treasure mayhaps... Or maybe a bunch of people can all start off their characters somewhere together with their own personal problem or quest and see where the story takes us.

I'll be happy to join if some others come into this, but I'll need to know some details... Like when and where. You've got to have some idea of how you'd like to set this up. And I only play hobbits, just so you know.

Well the common interest would really be that they are all men of Gondor - albeit all very different - fighting for the defense of their land and people (whether they are peasants or nobility, Belfalan wine makers or shepherds of Lossarnach). I originally was going to write this as a separate story, but then thought it might be fun as a RP if I got enough of a response and people were willing to create some fun new characters for it.

Sounds cool to me<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> I like to be Imrahil too, but that depends on if Gurthang wants to be him. Otherwise I'd be Dunhere. See ya<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>
Teriffic! People are interested! Except...well I suppose it's OK (I don't like being really picky) - but I had hoped people would be inspired to create their own characters and not just expand on the ones that Tolkien created, they would come from all those places and be the subjects of Imrahil or come from the uplands of Morthond, but wouldn't actually be the same ones Tolkien named. Here's mine for example.

NAME: Loran

RACE: Man of Gondor

AGE: 18

LINEAGE: Son of Eadbald and Seledrith, peasant farmers of Pinnath Gelin

HEIGHT: 6’8

BUILD: Quite tall with large broad shoulders, though he tends to stand hunched belying his true stature.

HAIR COLOR: dark unruly hair, he attempts to keep short during the summer months

EYE COLOR: Plain brown eyes

WEAPONS: A dull rusty sword, no more than a family heirloom

DRESS: Dresses in peasant garb that is usually too small for him, sometimes dons a thick brown scarf along with it. As a soldier of the Hirluin the Fair is clad all in green as is custom.

SKILLS: Very self-reliant and a hard worker, Loran can tend to a wounded sheep or help to reshoe a horse, sow a field or repair a plow; however, he is neither a great thinker or a great fighter, his skill with both bow and blade is lacking.

MARITAL STATUS: Leaves a sweetheart back in the Green Hills by the name of Aedra.

COMPANIONS: A fat red roan by the name of Apple (for both his coloring and his fondness for the fruit)

HISTORY: The first-born son of Eadbald and Seledrith, Loran comes from a family who has long farmed and tended sheep alongside the River Lefnui. His mother reports that he gets his tremendous size from his great grandfather, who was known in the area as Gildas the Tall. The eldest child in a family of five, Loran has two sisters and three brothers, all of whom adore him. A worker, since he could first walk, Loran’s first job in the fields was to chase away sparrows from the crops. Before long he was given the responsibility of tending to the family’s herd of sheep; however he did not stay small for very long and by the age of seven was already towering over his peers, and by fourteen even his own father. It was at the age of fourteen that Loran first met Aedra. The daughter of peasant farmers as well, she first spotted Loran working in the fields while driving the family wagon down to the river for market. Beginning first as an awkward friendship, they were known throughout the region for taking long walks through the many lush forests and dales of the Green Hills. Aedra was taken with his aloof awkwardness as well as his surprising gentleness and although many other young men began to call upon her, she remained smitten with Loran. A true gentle giant, in every sense of the word, Loran is both large in stature and spirit. His size known throughout the region, the son of Eadbald is somewhat infamous and is often called upon to do various tasks where his size is of value.

I'm so excited you all are interested, and I feel bad and hope I don't sound too picky. If I am, just let me know...I'll stop. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-rolleyes.gif"border=0> <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif"border=0>

I would love to join! Sounds pretty thought-out. And we could fill in the blanks along the way, anyway. I have an original character that I've never used before, so I'll go get him.

Name: Elvedui
Gender: Male
Race: of Men (Lebennin)
Age: 21
Occupation: Professional gambler by day (and night, I suppose) and eclectic thief/mercenary of the weekends (That part's mostly for laughs <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>)
Apperance: With his dark brown hair and sprakling green eyes, let's say that it's not hard for him to attract attention from the opposite sex. He's tall, around six-feet, and what some might consider lean; though that's not to stay that he's weak. The faint beginnings of a beard/moustahce are starting to show, but they have not fully grown in.
Personality: He's got a rugged-kind of charm about him. Some would xall him a trouble-maker, rouge, or scoundrel, but his defense is that he merely likes to joke around. true, his careless and twisted sense of humor has often put him in some odd spots, but that doesn't stop him from enjoying every second of life. He jests often, but only his true friends know of his real reasons for doing so. Most who meet him are instantly attracted to him... or at least his odd sense of humor
History: he grew up with his father above an inn in Lebennin where he learned the fine art of gambling, and the age-old tradition of drinking games. Perhaps growing up without a mother had a hand in causing his insincerity; but he tries not to dwell on that.
His mother was of Dol Amroth, of distant kin to Imrahil. While on a venture to visit her family, her company was attacked by passing Haradrim and she was killed. Elvedui's father was devastated and had to raise their young son by himself. He raised his son to be strong and capable of surviving on his own. This turned to be an valuable skill that Elvedui would need by the time he was eleven-years-old, when his father was murdered by marauders who had set fire to their inn during the night while they slept. He escaped with only a criss-cross scar on his inner left forearm, a reminder that life can be taken from you in an instant. From there he was taken in as an apprentice armorist where he became very skilled with a sword. When he turned fifteen, he was released from apprenticeship and began his career as a drifting thief, making friends of like-minded rogues, outlaws, and mercenaries.

He's the most filled-out new character I've ever had, so if it's decent enough, I'd like to join.

_Mithy

Decent enough? Elvedui sounds like a really fleshed out and interesting character (who will probably be an interesting compliment to the simpleminded Loran. Can't wait for the first time they meet). I love him! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> Hmmmm...I had been planning on starting off all the way over in Pennith Gelin and making my way over - but you're all the way over in Lebennin.

I suppose I don't have to start there, that would take quite a while after all. I could be closer to the middle regions of Gondor when I lose my company, maybe across the River Morthond? What do you think would be a good central starting point for all of us to meet up in this RP?

Hehe <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> Thanks, LadyElessar.

Hold on, let me go get my book... OK, got it. Have to get my geographical reference <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

I don't have to start in Lebennin. I could be over in Anfalas for some reason. I've got lots of leeway with my character, so whatever idea you have for Loran I could come up with something for Elvedui that wouldn't put a kink in the story. It all really depends on you think the company from Pinnath Gelin would get to Minas Tirith. Would they take the Harad Road around the Ered Nimrais or would they brave the mountains to cut down on travel time? If they took the road they'd pass right through Lebennin anyway, but it's probably harder to get lost on a road than it is in the mountains.

But like I said, my character's flexible. He can basically be wherever the story needs him to be.

_Mithy

Hey <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> Just to say, that I have a character that I thought up and developed a few months ago, but have never had the chance to use her. Technically speaking, she is an elf, but her only contact with other elves was as a baby. She was, for reasons unknown, taken by her parents to Mordor during the first War of the Ring, but her parents were both slain. She was found my a man from Gondor, and was brought up in the White City, although she later moved down to the sea, where she dwelt for a number of years before meeting and falling in love with a corsair from Umbar. They were polar oppsoites, but for some reason it worked, and she travelled with him until his untimely death just 8 years later. She then moved back to Gondor, and lived in Dol Amroth until this battle, when she decides she must ride with the other men to Gondor's aid, feeling that she owes them her life. I have a full character bio and description buried somewhere on my laptop, so if you'd be interested in having her (Anadriewen, or Ana for short) along, let me know and I'll post it <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> However, I'd understand if you'd prefer to keep the chracters involved strictly human (and male <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>)- I would not mind <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> Just a thought.

Mithnen - another poster and RPer, Jaeniver, had that exact same sig pic just last week! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> It's so pretty

Nice research Mithnen! Having the map in front of you is probably a good idea, I'll do the same...There's no real point in starting at Pinnath Gelin, when I could probably cover it in a big first post in flashbacks or something. I'm thinking the company would probably take the mountain pass, but perhaps where the road splits (by Tarlang's Neck just across the River Morthond) Loran could get lost. He ends up taking the Harad Road (because he's not the sharpest tool in the box) and meets up with all of you. I think it is where I'd like the RP to start though. It's a good place that is somewhat centrally located for meeting up with other people. Here's a pretty good map, to see --> http://brendoman.com/honzo/lotr/Gondor.jpeg

Pandora - while I was aiming at having mostly men from Gondor, I don't see why Anadriewen can't join, if that's where her allegiance lies. It would be interesting to have a woman along as well. I'd love to read the full bio (if you can dig it up), she sounds like an interesting character. Although we'll have to figure out how she meets up on this road as well.

Gurthang and Turgon - are you guys still interested?

Dummble - I see you're relatively new to TORC. First off welcome <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> Second, maybe you should check out the RP 101 and 102 threads and visit the Lucky Fortune Inn in the Welcome Forum before jumping in here. That's where I started off and I was there quite a while before I became comfortable joining a RP here in the Pony (I was a loooong time lurker).

Yeah I'm still interested. Heres my character

Name: Atanyamir
Race: Men
Age: 56
Personality: He is a thinker, and doesn't talk much. He is wise and always willing to give advice. He is very stubborn and won't give in no matter what.
Appereance: 6"4" with long, blond hair that goes to his shoulders. He has misty gray eyes. He is strong and fair, like is fathers before him.
Skills: He is strong with his broad sword, Gwathang(Shadow Sword), a sword he got from his father. He is also a good horse rider.
Weapons: Along with his broad sword, he also has a hunting knife and a dagger.
Occupation: A body gaurd of Prince Imrahil. He is also apart of the Royal Guard.
Horse: Mithlond. A loyal horse who would never abandon his loving master. He has been in many battles. He has a beautiful shimmering red coat and mane.
Info: He was born in Dol Amroth and is in the Royal Guard. He has some Elvish blood in him as many of Dol Amroth do. He is a noble man and was taught how to use a sword ever since he was a small child.

Is this good?<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

Awesome, Turgon I like him a lot! We've got quite a variety of characters so far - at least between Loran, Elvedui, Atanyamir and Anadriewen. The question will be how a body guard of the Prince ends up with our little company. Hopefully between Elvedui and Atanyamir Loran can figure out how to use that sword at his side.

Welcome, Ranarwen! Glad you think the RP sounds interesting. I wasn't quite sure if there would be that many people willing to join an RP that would exclude (for the most part) elves and women. I like Shamis in "Darkness Befalls..." so I can't wait to see who you come up with for this! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0>

I've put out the first post that basically sets up where Loran is and...yeah, he's pretty much alone. So I don't know who wants to come in next or if you want me to take him further along the road. It's all up to you whether you want to use this OOC to plan extensively before you post or just post and see where the story takes us. Let me know - I can't stress the word collaboration enough!

Here you go - Anadriewen's bio at last, as promised!! Still need to get her exact age worked out tho - which will probs involve going back to my copy of the Sil and finding out exactly when this battle is taking place! I have tried scanning her history for loopholes, and think I've covered everything, but if you see anything, please let me know! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Mithy - your character sounds rather like I imagined Ana's corsair to have been - I have a feeling she's going to take a shine to him, lol <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

PS: please be patient as regarding my spelling - I know most of the RP boards are full of Americans, so I try and use American words and spellings rather than British ones, but if I forget and use a word you don't recognise (eg autumn instead of fall, boot instead of trunk, pavement instead of sidewalk) then let me know <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Name: Anadriewen
Age: 3000+ (b. SA 1348)
Race: Elf
History: Though of elven birth, the identity of her parents is unknown, other than that they lived in Rivendell, and her mother died in childbirth. Found as a child by the men of Minas Tirith after the last battle of the first War of the Ring, she was raised by them and continued to live and work in the city until T.A. 1422, when she left and moved to Pelargir. There Anadriewen (Ana) unexpectedly met and fell in love with Khadin, a Corsair captain from Umbar, and journeyed with him until his death just 8 years later, when they returned from their travels to find a civil war going on (the Kin-Strife). She now lives in Dol Amroth, beside the sea.
Personality: Although actually being an elf, Ana is far more like a human in her mannerisms and attitude to life, and is a fighter rather than a pacifist. However, she does still have an innate artistic streak, and is an excellent seamstress, a talent which supported her throughout her time in Minas Tirith. Being of Noldorin ancestry, she enjoys making things with her hands, and also made jewelry for the noblewomen of the land. A loyal friend to a few select people, she always tries her best to honor her promises. She does however have a quick temper, which has often landed her in trouble, and although she is quick to forgive, she does not forget easily.
Appearance and dress: 5”11 with lightly bronzed skin, long, dark chestnut hair (most often braided) and piercing green eyes, one long earring dangling from her left ear and a single wooden beaded necklace. A single, long pale scar can be seen on her right forearm. She dresses like a normal Gondorian woman most of the time, but when traveling she prefers her old sea-faring outfit of worn, loose, dark blue/grey cotton pants, teamed with a loose white cotton shirt and mid-calf length black leather boots that have seen better days. A long leather coat completes the outfit.
Weapons: A plain 47" Ranger's sword, (which she was given by Khadin from his ship's looted armoury) worn in its scabbard on her hip. She also has a dagger hidden inside her right boot. Being over 3000 years old, Ana has had plenty of time to practice her swordplay, and is fairly competent with her blade.
Weaknesses: She yearns to love and be loved, but is afraid of getting hurt, like she was when Khadin was killed. She puts up a lot of emotional barriers around her, but can occasionally act seemingly erratically if someone she secretly cares for is in danger. A lot of people think her cold, and she has always been a bit of an outsider.

First off welcome to TORC, Taurnil! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> RP is tons of fun and is one of the reasons I joined after being a long time lurker! Might I suggest stopping by the RP 101 and 102 threads first and maybe trying your hand in the Lucky Fortune before jumping into RP.

And the answer to your question is that it’s actually neither – the men in this RP are those that arrive at the city right before the siege. You know the passage where Tolkien describes Forlong the Fat coming in with his company and all the other peoples slowly trickling in? (I don't have my book in front of me or else I'd quote it). However, this RP will include the stragglers of those companies, so to speak. We'll be forming our own company/fellowship. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-cool.gif"border=0> So far we've got the 6'8 son of a farmer, a professional gambler, a woman of Noldorian descent who had a fling with a Corsair and a body guard of Prince Imrahil.

Sun bleached brown hair, blue eyes, a few freckles. Tall, around 5' 9'', and slender. Strong arms from lifting nets full of fish.

Personality: She's a hard worker, likes to get things done on time, which makes her stubborn. But, she is also kind, trustworthy and loves to laugh. Very hardy, can stand rough conditions with ease, is accustomed to sleeping just about anywhere whether it be bed, ship or ground. She spent most of her life around boys so she is very much one, but she doesn't mind. She is also very attractive and her father would very much like her to marry.

Bio: She is the daughter of the head of a small fishing village in Ethir. She has been around boats and fish all her life. She worked on her father's fishing boat until she was 17 and then was given her own to run. Her brother is in the army, though he fishes as well, and he tought her to use a sword.

Clothing: She normally wears brown shorts that reach her knees and a blue very-short sleaved shirt. Though, if she has to, she will wear her short-sleaved, v-neck, ice blue dress for parties and such.

Skills: She is a master at running a ship. She also has much skill with a blade and has her own sword.

Hope that's all right,

Ren

That's interesting *Jack Sparrow impression* That veeeeery interesting <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

I'd hoped Elvedui might get himself into a bit of a stick. Maybe Ana could be the stick <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

I haven't read everyone's bios (not enough time!) but I'm sure they're all very intriguing. So welcome to everyone...

That said: I say we get going <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

_Mithy

Hey, it's taken some time I know (sorry) but I've got him!! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

Name: Jerryl

Race: Mortal

Age: 38

Lineage: one of the fisher folk

Appearance: He is of medium height and rather lean. He has a very weathered face, and is very tanned. A very unusual thing about his appearance is his prematurely white hair. He has completely white hair because of the lack of pigment.
Skills: A very good sailor. You could say he was born on a boat. He is quite good with the blade as he had been trained as a soldier before. This is the reason why he was chosen as one to be sent to protect Gondor.

Bio/History: Jerryl was brought up as a sailor should, and never before did he have anything to do with weapons. He didn’t really feel the need. For him the ability to use a fish knife or a harpoon was enough. At 20 he was drafted into the army, he learned quite a bit but he hated every second of it, and after a year of training he run away, back to his beloved boats. He had been chosen as one to go as support to Minas Tirith but Jerryl definitely didn’t find this honoring as he should have.

Character: Not much to say, I hope he will develop throughout the story. He is very skeptical and stubborn though. He also has his own set of rules which he will always try to keep, his word he will always sty to, the only problem is to get him to give his word.

I hope you'll still have me!

EDIT: wow I'm sorry Ren, I didn't notice your character was already one of the fisher folk. I hope you don't mind mine being one too...!

Amusing is right! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0> We've definitely got an assortment of characters that should make for some interesting interactions. Mithnen, is Elvedui our designated comic relief? <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> I have a feeling he'll be the one getting us into all sorts of mishaps...

Ranarwen: We've got a deserter on our hands, eh? Jerryl sounds like he'll be a nice addition!

I can't wait to get started, every character definitely has their own unique personality, which I think is so important for a RP. It's probably a good idea for everyone to have a good map around for reference, this website is terrific and is my favorite. Don't be afraid to explore the region (I've been doing some in depth exploration), there's lots of fun places and little towns along the Harad road that we could definitely have fun with. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> So to quote Mithnen "That said: Let's get started!"

Hey LadyElessar - just noticed your minute post-count! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif"border=0> Even smaller than my own, and I didn't post in 10 months!! (intimidated by such large numbers of people who all seemed to know each other remarkably well. Eventually overcame my fear in the hope of getting to know a few people before the Gathering) So what's your story? *is curious* Are you solely (sp?) an RPer? Or do you have another, primary screename? Or is it simply due to lack of online-time available?

Not to reduce this to a chat thread, but it's quite a lengthy story (or maybe I'm just in a storytelling mood)<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

Long, long ago (last January) I took a class up at college called Tolkien's Sources that was comprised of eleven Tolkien freaks like myself. It was, in short, the best class ever. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> I'm the lone Tolkien fan of all my friends and family and I got into this class and was just overwhelmed - in a good way - that I had people I could just sit with for hours and talk about Tolkien and his works with (needless to say I was quite sad when the class ended and most of the people in it graduated and I had no one else to talk about Tolkien with).

One of the things we had to do for the course was rate a bunch of websites and lo and behold I stumbled upon TORC. I registered in January, lurked around until March when I discovered the world of RP. As a huge fan of creative writing, it was like my dream and I spent quite some time creating and finally working up the courage to post my first character in the archives. I spent a lot of time reading RPs, but was quite picky when it came to entering one and to quote you, I was "intimidated by such large numbers of people who all seemed to know each other remarkably well". <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-rolleyes.gif"border=0> Silly, I know, but I'm just in general a shy person. I've finally worked up the courage to start RPing obviously and am slowly getting more comfortable posting all around the boards. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-cool.gif"border=0>

The short answer to your question is 1) that I was (and still am) quite the lurker and 2) as a college student am somewhat restricted sometimes in the amount of time I can spend on TORC. I've met some fun people through RP so far, so hopefully I'll continue to come out of my shell. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Edited to remind everyone to take care in typing their posts, we've got an Anna and an Ana. So one small typo could really confuse the story!

Yeah Ren, that could be quite good. One good bye feast a skeptic and an idealist (now, I don't know if your character is that, but it sounds good! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>)

Hehe <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> I guess Elvedui could be the designated comic relief. That's always worked out in the past, don't see why it wouldn't now <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

Pandora: Is my mail your buddy list? <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif"border=0> I haven't explored this PM thing yet so forgive me if it sounds ignorant...it is <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

OK, well, so long.

_Mithy
