Should yovargas replace Rumsfeld as Grand Hippopotamos?

Postby Jude » Tue Dec 21, 2004 8:48 am

It seems a certain Manwë regular has been complaining about the lack of activity on this board, and has demanded that action be taken.

This is the best I could come up with at short notice.

The Grand Hippopotamus, whose name means "river horse", is a plant-eating water-loving giant. A relative of camels, pigs, and deer, the hippo has two lives in one! The centre of a hippo's day life is water. Like a hippo pool-party, sometimes hundreds of hippos, will share a territory of water during the day. Whether it's mating, playing, fighting or giving birth, hippo's all wet. The hippo's night life begins a few hours after sunset, when all the hippos file out of the water to graze on land by the light of the moon.

Random facts:

Hippos make a of variety grunts, growls, screams and other sounds underwater to communicate with each other.

So many hippos may use the same path out of the water at dusk that it will become worn five or six feet deep.

Hippos have huge mouths and teeth, even though they eat grass. A grand hippo's canines can grow to 28 inches long, and their mouths can open four feet wide.

PS - Given my new status as Manwe's Dictator-for-Life, I will not have the time available to take on the mantle of Grand Hippo. I suggest some sort of Manwe celebrity deathmatch rumble to decide who should take the mantle in my absence.

Only a handful of people (Myself included of course) have the power to grant titles on TORC. I haven't heard anything about this granting so I somewhat doubt it's veracity.

If you were a real king, you wouldn't have put an apostrophe in "its".

Considering that, by my count, there have been a total of 5 posts in Manwe since I got back from lunch over two hours ago, I don't think this is working.

Why not start a new thread telling us, in excruciating detail, how you really feel about Bush? That should spark some activity. :D

Because then I'd have to think about Bush, and yovargas does not like to think about Bush.

yovargas, since you are now Grand Hippopotomus of Manwe...also Dictator-for-Life (?) it is your job to get the forum riled up again. We need more threads about "the heathens will burn in hell" and "everything in the bible is wrong and is contradicted by [insert another text or ideology]".

I also think I might have to start a thread about voter fraud. I suspect there might have been some in this poll. Were you using Diebold machines to conduct this vote, Jude?

I mean
the problem with this thread is that the poll, although cleverly disguised, really only offers me one option
and i don't like this option
you need to add a "no flutterin' way"

I think the options in the poll are excellent - they represent a very sane view of politics and the choices one should present to the people.

I voted "absolutely".

In fact, I think yovargas should replace Rumsfeld - fullstop!

I still think there is some fraud to be hashed out. I'm getting the libertarians to conduct massive recounts all over the forum.

Although I voted "absolutely" I'd like to complain that I was confused by the choices. I couldn't follow the arrow to the other side properly. As well, I couldn't figure out how to use the little pointy stylus thing, and I didn't get my card seated properly over the red pegs. And my fingers were full of peanut butter (kids' sandwiches) when I pushed the buttons on the screen, and I think I might have slipped and accidentally voted for the wrong choice. Plus, I couldn't pull the lever down all the way.

And don't forget the hanging chads.

Anyway, I've been robbed yet again. yovargas gets everything. <pout> First he's dictator-for-life, now he's Grand Hippo.

You know, on second thought, I'm not so sure Grand Hippo is a title I'd like. Grand Puma would be nice, though. Or Grand Panther.

Well in a past lifetime Yovargas was the Grand Stickbug of Bree....that should be enough authority for anyone to not question...

But this is only MHO and in my former life I was the town bum.

I think, as Baron, it's your responsibility to sort out this conflict.

But I don't think Yovargas is too concerned about someone who claims to be a punctuation agnostic but used and apostrophe (correctly, I might add) in "I'm".

Jude - should we nominate you for stating "and apostrophe" being used instead of "an apostrophe" as REL Minion and Steward? ? :D:D

Happy Holidays, of course, this is completely politically incorrect on all counts, which is why I say it!!

Hey, back when I went to grammar school, it was the correct thing to do to indicate possessiveness with an apostrophe in the word "it".

Why did they change that?

It was never the correct thing to do to indicate possessiveness with an apostrophe in the word "it".

Could you please send me the name and address of your teacher? I intend to send him or her a strongly-worded note.
