I'm totally stuck in the middle. The Muse is wandering all over the place humming to herself. I sure hope she is working on a second half for this monstrosity I got going. I'll try the pruning shears while Ms Muse amuses herself elsewhere.
OK folks, the plan is to open the thread tommorrow, unless I get the opportunity tonight. That will give us the background. I'm going out back of The 'Pot unless anyone has another location they really want us to use.
Wisteria darlin' you might have lost your original account but you cannot loose rank or standing in the Bards' Guild. As was so aptly stated above, Once a Bard, Always a Bard |

I have got to get someone to go to the Bahama's and get my tart of a muse and bring her home. Dang I need to get started on my poem.
I know she is sipping drinks on a beach somewhere soaking up the sun and fooling around with anyone she can find. So if you see her can you kick her in the butt and send her home to me please? |

Probably gone to the same location as mine
Well, having never done this before I'm not really sure how long my poem should be. But for better, worse or tragically awful, I'm done.
Now I just have to worry that, once I post it, no-one's gonna understand it I guess time will tell... |

I had worked on it before, but I dont remember if I had made any post about the Easterlings yet. I knew before I had left that I wanted to have Matrim work the the Bard of the Land title for Khand.
Anyways that being said, I have a poem for the festival which Id like to submit as one of the works for the title if you dont mind. It even has a bit of fall in it as well. |

That's fine. You can post a submission for a Bard of the Land title in any festival once you become a Master Bard. The theme for THIS festival is to do a POV or poem/song using a character from LOTR, or did I say Tolkien's works?) If you are doing that you need to state what character in this thread before you post it in the festival thread. Can you do both? If you are gonna try and have one poem fit both criteria, just let me know and go for it. Love ta see it. You can also decide to post one as the BotL submission and then another that fits the theme of this particular festival. Just lemme know before ya go...
That is the rank qualifying theme for this festival. You write us something that is about that character or from that character's point of view. It must be clear who you are talking about, or talking for. Rehashing some general something and sticking a name in is not gonna get it folks although I know no one here would be resorting to those sorts of tricks.
You can add a name or change a name, drop out or drop in at any time just make it known here before ya post so we know what it is your shooting for when ya post it in the festival thread. |

Hrmm POV poem huh? Well I suppose I can tie in another poem to my first. First will be my BotL submission and the second will tie in with the first and be about Khamul, if I can pull it off. Now, time to go study a bit and write another poem. |

Ohhh, the Festival is open! I see it's time to send a certain fat monk down that way, LOL.
Cornelius: Just to be checking, was said there would be much ale?
Muse: Yes, yes, there's always lots of Ale. They're Bards fer crimeny sakes!
Cornelius: Ah good. And also to be checking, was said there also would be a large and varied supply of edibles?
Muse: Yes, yes you fat git! There's always lots of food too. Not as though you'd starve before the Fourth Age ended . . . "
Cornelius: And singing?
Muse: THEY'RE
BARDS!!
Cornelius: Ah, is to be rude to shout, this humble servant was only checking . . .
Muse: Just go!!
Cornelius: Ahem. Always willing to oblige oh Paragon of the Parchment, but ah, 'tis thee who must put me there . . .
Muse: *unprintable TOS violating stream of impoliteness*

Okay, I stuck this in a OOC in the festival thread, but I wanted to let people know that I may not be able to get online for a couple days. I got home tonight and found that there's no phone or internet at my house. I ran over to my Grama's to post this, so feel free to move Heather about if need be, or play with Beryl. I'll be back as quick as I can!
Thanks!

Judy A., We do some light Role Playing in setting up the festival and our arrivals. Then as the story goes on we will be performing our poems over the duration of the festival.
I am not positive how long we will run the festival but I do believe it will be till next weekend at least. So go ahead and post something about your arrival or your apparel that you have chosen to wear and join the fun.
I did not post this in the festival so as to prevent all the OOC Out of Character posting. |

Thanks Vana! I'm afraid I'm not quite up with all the lingo yet, but am getting the hang of it. After reading everything else in the thread, I kind of got the idea, although I wasn't sure at that stage where the poems fitted into it all.
Anyway, thanks for coming and sitting with me under my invented tree, darl. I've just made up a silly poem and whacked it into the festival thread in honour of the occasion...
Oh, and btw to whoever can answer this, what are BotL and POV? Can't do them if I dunno what they are!!! |

BoTL is "Bard of the Land" a title attained by a master bard. Once a master bard you can choose a land that you would like to be a bard for. Then you write three poems about that land and do a essay about the land to attain the title. There are only three of us so far..... elengil, guru and I have done the work so far.
POV is "Point of View" such as in this festival your poems must be from the Point of View of the person that you chose to do your work on.
I hope that helps hon! |

OK Matt, but ya do know that it does not have to be a POV, point of view, piece. It can be about the character as in third person and not necessarily first person. I offer the POV thing to open it up, to toss an onion into the stew if you will, and I did. No need to do the POV style, unless that's what you want to do. Get it? Got it? Good |

Okay - have done the first poem, changed a few bits to make it POV but now see that I don't have to do that. So I may yet change it back.
BUT - an inquiry. Do we
need
to do a BotL as well? And if so, should that still be about the same person or someone else? Or take some other form???
Apologies... it's all a learning experience for newbies such as myself |
