Then yours is better'n mine
That is right, Judy A Bard of the Land is just another ranking that I came up with when all the active bards had already reached most of the old rankings. You do not ever have to do another poem if you do not wish to do so, You are in and once a Bard, always a Bard. How much ranking you want is up to you The list ( as I recall) goes like this:
Apprentice Bard
Journeyman Bard
Bard Exemplar
Master Bard (after reaching this rank one can become a Warrior/Bard by gaining membership in the Warrior's Guild which is, of course, the Mithril Knights. Talk to me about this as they have their own set of requirements and rules.... and they're not so easy going as me over there.) To become a Warrior/Bard you must be a member in good standing of both the Bards' Guild AND the Mithril Knights/the Warriors' Guild
Bard of Renown, (at this rank you may choose your own title. for instance my rank is Warrior/Bard. My title is Illuvatar's Bright Spirit.
Bard of the Land, which will be ammended to read Bard of Whateverlandyoupickedtobe subjectofyoursubmission. You need to do 2, no 3 poems about whatever land and then write up an essay covering the history and other pertinent facts about said chosen land, like if any "famous persons" came from there or if some natural wonder is a part of the landscape of that land,a trace the race about where the people there might have come from.
I am not saying you have to do all of that just suggesting topics that would suit the requirement, not that you can't have others. |

Wooops, I called myself a journeygirl bard in a post over in RP, I'd better go and change it to apprentice
As far as poems are concerned, I like writing them but it takes a lot out of you!! I can usually come up with something silly that rhymes (eg, the scrumpy effort), but other stuff takes a good deal more thought. And usually doesn't rhyme, for some reason.
So, do I take it that if Appropriate Theme Poem no 2 meets with approval, one then becomes a journeyman? And presumably there needs to be Appropriate Theme Poem no 3 for someone to become an Exemplar, etc etc?? |

btw, Hue, when I did my poem in the last festival, did I reach the rank of Journeyman? I was asking since the awards at the end of that festival weren't done, and that one never ended. I'm a little confused. |

ASAP hon, Once a Bard ALWAYS A BARD!!!! Get it!!! Truant or not!!!
For those will questions..... you can only move up ONE ranking at each festival. So an apprentice can only become a journeyman Bard at the next festival. Then the Journeyman Bard can only move up by performing an appropriate poem at the next festival to become a Bard Exemplar and so on.
This way it takes a while for someone to attain the ranks and move on.
Each festival has a theme or a required component for the performers to comply with. It is known previous to the festival so that everyone has time to think about it and decide if they wish to participate. No one is every required to perform but if you do then you must follow the requirements of that festival to have it count. You are always welcome to do more then the required poem at any festival and they can be about anything you wish.
The awarding of the titles is usually done at the end of the festival and when Hue does the awards ceremony it is awesome!!
Many of us have attained to the highest of titles and that is why we chose to go on and do the Bard of the Land. We wanted to distinguish our selves from each other. Guru and I are both Warrior/Bards and Master Bards so to have a unique title we chose to do the BoTL on different areas. So now we have different titles. Mine of course would be with the elves of Mirkwood/The Green Wood/ Eryn Lasgalen. His is of an older time.
All I can say is have fun with being a Bard. Enjoy the climb at the pace you wish and then go as far as you wish, don't let anyone make you feel that you need to do more or go farther then you wish.
But......... it is Good Luck to Buy a Bard a Beer!!! |

Nah it just happens that way sometimes.
The stage is ready and any one that wants can go ahead and "perform" whenever they would like.
I would start it off but right now I am totally stuck with my poem. Might have to rethink the whole thing. |

Great poems so far. Makes mine seem like a child playing with things he shouldnt.
110 Posts already? I really hadn't noticed. I am having fun and enjoying myself and trying to catch up on all that I had missed. Besides I was always a spammer.
The post works fine, should get Mat off your back now and after a new target. After all, Mat still pines for Scribbles, even though he has been gone for years. I think he going to try and keep it on the down low for the time being, but who knows what will happen when the Scribe shows up again.
Post is up, should help fill a little of the RP gap I left when I lef tthe forums. |

Man you guys are fast! LOL . . . either that or I'm just too rusty to be in this game any more . . .
Poor old Cornelius. He's in wonderland and he can't play. Good thing he loves his ale and his food, he'll be alright. After he recovers from the heart failure that Mat gave him that is . . .
And bravo to all the performers. Lovely, lovely stuff . . . I'm really enjoying the results of all of your hard work.

Don't worry, Scribbles. I'm sure your entry will be worth the wait. You've got a bunch of excited people who can't wait to post. Judy, that was an excellent poem about Melian! Good show! Can't wait to see the rest.

I am no where near ready to post my poem but then I have a few more days to get it done.
I do not believe that Scribbles will be posting at this festival. She has chosen to sit this one out and let Cornelius come out and play. Though he is not a bard he is a friend and will have a good time listening, drinking and eating at the festival. That is if Mat does not put him in a grave by scaring the hell out of him. |

LOL! Exactly Vana. One thing Cornelius is
not
, is Bard material, poor lamb. Plus, though he's entirely harmless and at heart a true gentleman, Cornelius does love to flirt with the ladies. And he's been lucky enough in the past to be graced with a kiss here and there . . .
True enough, the Scribe will not be appearing at this Festival, seeing as at the moment she happens to be deep in a quest many, many miles away, no where near the Splintered Chamberpot.
No worries though. Cornelius will undoubtably regale the Scribe with all she missed, if he ever sees her again.

I'll make sure Mat doesnt kill him. Though he has taken a bit of a dark side, but thats more out of regret and anger at himself for letting the absence happen.
One of these days, Ill get up there with a poem that is suitable. I still have that short poem about the Easterling soldier as well though I plan on using that as a BotL poem. |

It seems that my french self did not get the concept of POV poem ...
I really wrote it from the point of view and as a first person thing sorta... we'll see... but kinda disappointed and my muse is gone so I'll keep it as it is and I'll post it anyway some time later. |

Great poems and posts, everybody. And Parm, your poem, as always, was well worth waiting for. Well done!
Come on, Hue, I know you can do it! *poke* *poke*
I'd love to hear that poem again about ale, ale, by the pail you posted a few times in MK. I forget the title, but it was a fun one.
Edit: Ah, yes, I looked it up, it was called
