Just perfect. I don't want to say more because my words are not enough to express my feelings when I see your works, Breogan.
You are very talented.
P.S. Have you drawn any girl's portrait? |

Thanks a million, Eru
You are very kind
I think you have seen most of the female portraits I have finished (I have a few in progress, but they will have to wait until I finish other works first)
I will upload a portrait of Nerdanel the Wise soon |

I like how you've chosen very characteristic colours for the brothers' clothes: red and gold for Fëanor, blue and silver for Fingolfin.
Now, I'm just waiting to see how you portray Finarfin. |

I am curious about the symbol on them - the eight-pointed star, the wings and...."TB"?
I must echo
rowanberry
's comments about the appropriate color choices. Also, I think it's exactly right that Fëanor would look directly at you, while Fingolfin is looking away towards something else. I like the 'clear' quality of their eyes, too. And like Jenny Dolfen, your Fëanor is short-haired |

Those symbols you mention are a "seal" I designed and use in works related to Tolkien's creation: the star is the Evenstar, the wings represent the Grey-ships, and those tengwar (T, B) stand for
teithant Breogan
, "Breogán drew/drew (this)" in Sindarin
Glad to know you like the colour palette
And yes, my Fëanor has short hair, he always had... like many of the Elves I have drawn so far - I don't particularly like Elves with very long hair, like those in the films. My mental picture of them is quite different. |

Another depiction of Fëanor, wearing light armour. A concept for an RTS computer game.

Whoah. Every inch of that guy spells "danger"...
You capture the character extremely well. (And, Fëanor is one of the few elves that I can also imagine wearing his hair rather short, to keep it out of the way when working - or fighting.) |

Just 'cos I like this pic so much.
(Thanks to Rowan for taking it. )
Sing me a story of heroes of the Shire,
Muddling through, brave and true,
Stubborn as bindweed and tough as old briar,
Never too showy or grand,
Year after year they persevere,
Now and for always.

One should actually see a colourized version for real comparison, but yes, one can figure out that he is related to your Fëanor and Fingolfin, especially the latter. |

Thanks for feedback, Rowan
I know Fëanor, according to the texts, resembled his father in "stature and countenance" ("my" Fëanor looks more like his mother), but since Curufin is already the spitting image of Fëanor and my Celebrimbor also resembles his infamous grandfather, I didn't want to continue painting the same face again and again and again... That's why Finwë's face structure is similar to that of his sons, but it's Fingolfin the one that looks more like his father (call it "artistic licence" )
I don't know if I will colour this face-study, I will if I have time, but I'm already working on the illustrations for Arda Reconstructed, so you could say I'm "quite" busy |

Yep, that's Fëanor's mother all right.
Somehow, your portrayal of her also supports my idea that the "silver" hair colour of the elves was rather sort of "dark without pigment" than a variation of blonde. |

Breogan, I signed up for Deviant yesterday to comment on your lovely artwork and now I can't find you again.
Just wanted to again let you know how I admire your efforts, especially in Tolkien, but I also loved your Star Wars drawings of the actors, Ewan M. is really good.
Excellent!!

Lovely, although not among your best works IMO.
There's something in her that makes me think of a character from some very old photograph. |

Ooh, I love the Art Noveau touch of this one.
(*slaps forehead* Mucha, yes - I knew it reminded me of something specific, but I couldn't name it.)
There's a detached, esoteric and yet sensual quality to it that goes well with Galadriel, I think.
Btw - hi, girlfriend, how are you? |
