Until she was an adult I understand she had a normal life.
I think mentally she lives under a rock!

JL has provided way too much entertainment for the rest of us.
Poor thing.
I'm coming along, I guess. I'm beginning to wonder if I'm ever going to be "normal" again...but you know, I don't think I know what normal actually is.
This promises to be a busy week though. The county fair is here.

In times like that I'm always reminded of the phrase "I'm normal, it's just that everyone else is strange"
So what happens at a county fair? Rides, sideshows, games, jams, cakes and food that's really bad for you - all that stuff? |

I hope I get the job too. I'm coming to the end of my tether with the current one - I'm overqualified, pure and simple, and realised I was almost forgetting that I'm actually pretty intelligent (not meaning this in an uppity way, just as a fact) because I don't get to use it.
It's only a junior role, but it's ideal for getting a foot in the door of a career rather than what is, essentially, a long-term (very long) holiday job.
Had a pretty rubbish couple of days and am feeling rather low. |

Iris
I've never been to a country fair because we don't have them, but my city has a pretty cool thing going on right now called Folklarama where pavillions that display entertainment and food from different cultures from around the world are set up at different venus around the city for the general public to come peruse... I've never been to it before either, but I will be going on Tuesday.
Strider,
I will be praying for your mom.
On Sunday a friend of mine hosted a murder mystery night set in 1920s Chicago during the alcohol prohabition. My character was "Flora Nementz-Gadora," the ex-wife of a mob-boss (was caught cheating) and one of my main objections was to flirt with the rival mob-boss in hopes of getting his money. My poor friend Simon had to put up with my fawning all night It was a great night and we all had a lot of fun. |

Pretty much. Our county is still quite rural and there's still a lot of agriculture, so 4-H and FFA are still a big deal...there's cattle, horses, pigs, sheep, poultry...there are displays of crafts, photos, art...farmers bring in samples of their produce...and then there's the food! All kinds of not good for you stuff that tastes really good, and also lots of other stands that sell just about everything. And various non-profit and for-profit organizations have stands too. There are also shows...there are two stages, the free stage in the grove and the grandstand stage. During the day there are horse races and then in the evening there are the paid shows. Tonight is Alice Cooper. Kelly Clarkson is later this week. Ratt will also perform later this week. There's a country act too, and a truck/tractor pull Thursday night.

Sounds cool... lots of fun. Although I don't really go in much for the likes of Alice Cooper myself..
btw what are 4-H and FFA?
Keve: How long has it been since you sent in your CV? Might be worth a call... you know, checking that they got it, etc etc. Shows you're keen
Ren: Ex-wife of a mob boss? You do get around... |

FFA used to be called Future Farmers of America, now it's just FFA.
clicky
4-H is similar but is run more like a club, and there can be several in an area, each focusing on something different. One in our area focuses on horsemanship, another on riflery (They're called the "hot shots" )
clicky me too
I wish I'd been part of 4-H when I was a kid sometimes. FFA does nothing for me. But a lot of kids involved in FFA go on to run family farms or get involved in other agriculture related businesses. Many go to college and study forestry or agriculture, veterinary and so on.
Edited to add: I wanted to meet Alice Cooper. I did some research on him when we found out he was coming and he's really interesting. He actually arrived a day early and played one of our local golf courses. We got a tip and one of our reporters (not me, sadly) ran up to meet him and take his picture.

Iris: Thanks for the info. And I'm sure Alice Cooper is an interesting guy, I just find the music (and the get-up on an ageing fella) kind of weird.
Ren: That's great!!! Good for you |

Oh Keve, I'm sorry to hear that.
I didn't get the job I applied for either. Was a bit grumpy about it for a few days, for a number of reasons, but am now reminding myself that God's in charge and I need to trust him!!! Easier said than done, of course.... good luck doing it at your end |

I am a bit happier now I've got a week off! Going to visit my friend in Cornwall for a couple of days next week, and this evening one of my friends is having a masked ball for her 30th birthday. |

That sounds like fun! Is it just masks, or does everyone get to wear groovy costumes too? |

Posh frocks and masks. One guy was there looking very much like Raoul in the "Masquerade" scene in "The Phantom of the Opera." It was great fun, though I slipped on the dance floor and landed on my arm and leg which really hurt now! |

Hey everyone. I'm still alive. I have survived the summer, and now its back to school. Well not for me, but Gwen is, and so is our daughter. She's in kindergarten!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Can you believe I've been here five years now, well over that. Crazy.
I hope all of you are well. I'll try and check in more frequently as I can.
God bless you all,
Dan |

I'm with Iris!!! I want first-day-of-school pics for the little White Lady. Seems like just yesterday you showed us pics of her as a wee thing, weeping bitter tears at a Tolkien fan event because she was terrified of John Rhys-Davies
It's that nice to see you, Dan. Do give Gwen a from me... |

PRAYER REQUEST
I'd appreciate prayer for my niece. She is 6.5 or 7 months pregnant but is in hospital because her very high blood pressure (she's already on meds) is making things dicey. The baby may have to come out now... and we all know how tricky that makes survival etc... |

Update:
The baby is here. Born a few days ago, and everything seems to be okay. Only 27.5 weeks they think, and 1.5 pounds, but so far he's doing really well, so here's hoping he won't ge any dreadful infections or stuff like that. Do appreciate your prayers - thanks. |
